Elementary Art Wednesday Afternoons 4-5:30

After the class finished their magical creature paintings from last week, they went right into exploring air dry clay to create a flowing ghost using a small cup as a form, making eyes and a mouth using a straw. Some even added little cute clay bows! Next week we will paint them.

Adult Art Wednesday Evenings 6 - 8

CONGRATULATIONS to Krystiana and Ashley. Before one of my students completes a piece, quite often there is a long period of time while they work on it. This period of time can be long for a large number of reasons: family/children/job/health/etc .... it isn't always about completing a piece 'perfectly'. It's more about seeing something to its completion, whatever that loks like. Despite quite a few extenuating circumstances, and wanting to 'be done' many times, both ladies thankfully trusted me enough to not throw in the towel prematurely.

Ashley never had a cat growing up and still doesn't have one! Nor does she really enjoy their company lol, but she drew and painted her brother's cat to challenge herself and learn a new media(watercolor pencil and paint).

Krystiana also dealt with a host of personal challenges while working on her beautiful floral gouache. Both ladies did something much more important: they showed up for themselves and never gave up. Very inspirational!

Well. It is what it is.

I had really wanted to make a wind chime out of this lobster buoy this year, but running two businesses and being totally exhausted all the time kind of was always the controlling factor. I had to hand it in today.

I decided yes, it will be clear- coated. I think it will shine up the sea glass pieces nicely and physically strengthen the piece as a whole.

From the beginning I really did not want to execute anything representational at all. I always just wanted to play with shape, line, and color. I thought the sea glass in a mosaic/'stained glass' format was simple and straight forward. Art doesn't always have to be making some magnanimous statement. It can be simple. And quiet.

Then I took a drive, since I was "all the way down" (😂) in Westerly and relaxed listening to the ocean and caught a beautiful sunset.
