Progress shot on the Misfits leg sleeve! 🎬💀

One of our favorite ongoing projects just got a little bigger.

Nathan recently added this new piece to the Misfits-inspired leg sleeve, blending horror, punk rock, and classic tattoo storytelling into a sleeve that’s becoming a true one-of-a-kind collection. Every session adds another chapter, and it’s been awesome watching this project evolve.

Meet the Artist: Nathan Underneath 🎨

If you’re new here, welcome!

Nathan is the owner and artist behind Moving Pictures Tattoo Cinema. Nearly a decade ago, he walked away from a career in engineering to pursue a life centered around art, creativity, and helping people tell their stories through tattooing. Today, Nathan specializes in color surrealism, realism, cover-ups, and large-scale custom projects. His work is known for bold color, strong composition, and creating tattoos that flow naturally with the body.

When he’s not tattooing, you’ll probably find him mountain biking, lifting weights, practicing yoga, reading, spending time with his kids, or finding new ways to grow as both an artist and a person. One thing Nathan believes deeply: tattoos are about more than ink. They’re about the moments, memories, and meaning behind them.

Thanks for being here and supporting the journey. If you’ve been tattooed by Nathan, tell us how long you’ve been part of the Moving Pictures family! 👇🖤

This week Nathan completed a meaningful robin’s nest piece featuring birthstone-colored eggs, added more progress to the ongoing Misfits sleeve project, brought a realistic ladybug to life, and worked on a powerful lion tattoo.

Outside the studio, he’s helping his daughter move back into school in Indianapolis today, staying consistent with yoga and gym sessions, knocked out a 35-mile group bike ride, and started diving into a new book.

This custom robin’s nest was created to symbolize a mother’s children, with each egg representing one of her kids through their birthstone colors. Surrounded by blooming flowers and nestled safely among the branches, it’s a beautiful reminder that home isn’t a place, it’s the people we love.

Nathan loves creating pieces that blend meaningful symbolism with vibrant realism, and this one was especially sweet to bring to life. ❤️

What a beautiful way to keep your family close, everywhere you go.

This realistic ladybug may be small, but it’s packed with detail, vibrant color, and a ton of personality. Nathan loves taking simple concepts and giving them enough depth and realism to feel alive.

Fun fact: There are over 5,000 species of ladybugs found around the world, and not all of them are red with black spots! 🐞❤️

06/10/2026

Nathan brought this realistic ladybug to life with bold color, smooth shading, and just the right amount of detail to make it look ready to crawl right off the skin.

Fun fact: Ladybugs aren’t just lucky, they’re helpful too! A single ladybug can eat up to 5,000 aphids in its lifetime, making them one of nature’s best little gardeners. 🌿

Weekly Recap 🌟

Another busy week in and out of the studio.

This week Nathan wrapped up a hyper realistic strawberry inspired by Abbey Road and Strawberry Fields Forever, and created a custom skull and gear piece packed with personality and meaning.

Outside the studio, life stayed just as busy. He spent quality time with his kids, joined a massive group bike ride, picked up a new racing bike, and even survived a crash on a black diamond trail. Thankfully, he’s doing alright and already back at it. He also had the chance to team up with some great people for a local hygiene drive and give back to the community.

As always, thank you to everyone who continue to share their love and support to the studio every single day. Let’s make this new week the best one yet! 🖤
