Much like other theatres in the area, Little Door Theatre has been monitoring the COVID-19 crisis very closely, and after lots of research and consideration, we have decided to suspend all rehearsals for the safety of our actors, technicians, crew, and patrons.

We do hope to resume rehearsals for The Cherry Orchard and will release the show to the public as soon as we are able to re-open and do so. Show dates may change, and we will update you as more information comes in. All other shows following the Cherry Orchard will be postponed until further notice.

During these trying times, all theatres, small businesses, and non-profits are struggling to stay afloat, and LDT is no exception. If you have extra funds at your disposal, please consider donating to many of our amazing local theatres as we prepare for the uncertainty that lies ahead. UPDATE REGARDING COVID-19: There are a lot of facts and feelings swirling around the local and national theatre scenes regarding the recent COVID-19 situation, and we at Little Door Theatre wanted to update you on the current status of performances.

After careful consideration, Little Door Theatre's production of Emperor's New Clothes by Han's Christian Andersen will continue this weekend as scheduled. We have carefully reviewed reporting on the national and local scale, and have come to the conclusion to move forward as planned. With this in mind, our company has taken every precaution as we continue with shows this weekend, and have included daily sanitation of the entire space before and after shows to ensure the safety and comfort of our actors and patrons.

**We do ask any patrons that may be feeling symptoms of an illness of any kind (coughing, sneezing, fever, etc.) to refrain from attending this weekend's performances as a courtesy to all of our guests and artists. Your thoughtfulness of others is greatly appreciated.**

Last Night we open Emperor's New Clothes, a family-friendly comedy, by Hans Christian Andersen! To get you all excited about the show, we will be sharing information each day about our cast and their character(s) in the show!

LDT's production of the show focuses on the point of view of the two rogues who trick the Emperor into wearing "invisible clothes" and parading around town. Our rogues, Roscoe and Florence (Flo), are played by Joel Frazee and Claire Zimmeth. Joel hails from Madison Heights, and is joining us for his fourth show at LDT… Fifth including his directorial debut of The Frog Prince this past summer. Joel is a fabulous character actor, and always brings an amazing sense of humor to every role he plays! Claire calls Detroit her home, and has appeared in may LDT productions both as an actor and as our beloved costume designer. In her free time, Claire creates beautiful period costumes and loves cosplaying and Dungeons and Dragons.

The cast of “Emperor’s New Clothes” had some fun tonight! While looking through a box of wig options that may be used in the show, they discovered that they had enough wigs to create a pretty large cast of Harry Potter characters! Needless to say the rehearsal process has been exciting to say the least, and this cast is excited to invite you all into the wonderful world they have created for you. Maybe without the Harry Potter references though... 😉
