We have missed you all so much!

One of the best things I love about our studio is that summer brings the opportunities for growth, rest, relaxation, recharge, and more learning if you want it. We might have been closed for the summer, but it was the perfect opportunity for so many of us to travel, experience new things, and get outside our comfort zones!

We can’t wait to see everyone for rehearsals in two short weeks, and we look forward to hearing all about your summer adventures. ❤️

Can we get a very large welcome for our new teacher, Miss Samm Wesler!

We are so excited to welcome Miss Samm to the Ascend Family! She is a rockstar and has so much teaching experience behind her, and I’m positive that you all will love her as our new Friday instructor!

Miss Samm is a dance teaching artist and educator. She believes empowering students to take charge of their education and delve into what moves them will lead us to become a society of open-minded, passionate learners and observers. Samm passionately believes that dance classes for adolescents must be inclusive for all types of students. As an openly Q***r woman, she advocates for LGBTQIA+ dancers and dance families to ensure these spaces are affirming and safe.

She holds a BA in Dance from the Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and an MFA in Performance and Choreography from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Samm is formerly Teaching Faculty for the Theater and Dance department at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH and Adjunct Faculty at Kathy Blake Dance Studios in Amherst, NH. She is now a guest teaching artist and choreographer at studios across the tri-state area, while also working as a corporate event planner.

First Monday of summer? PERFECT time to introduce one of our new teachers for the fall. ❤️

Ascenders, please give a very warm welcome to Miss Rachael Henry Johnson! 🎉 Many of you met her during our summer intensive, and I’m so happy to say she will be teaching most of our Monday and Saturday classes in the fall!

Miss Rachael has always felt most at home on the stage. More than anything she loves telling stories, whether through dancing, acting, singing, or some combination thereof.

Rachael attended a prestigious performing arts high school before going on to study musical theater and dance at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. After graduating, she went on to perform with countless professional theaters throughout the country.

At 18, she co-founded a no-cost youth theater and served as a director, board member, and their resident choreographer for their first 7 seasons, receiving numerous local best choreography nominations and awards in the process. Rachael has gone on to teach for dance studios all up and down the east coast as well as for the renowned performing arts summer camp French Woods Festival of the Arts. She has choreographed for schools, studios, community organizations, and professional theaters around the country.

May we always be working to be a safe place for kids to be kids, humans to be humans, and love to be love.

We hope you always find the places that make you feel at home, make you feel safe, and make you feel like you belong, no matter what version of yourself you are and decide to be. May you always have the choice to be who you want to be, and the safety to be exactly who you are.
