✨✨2026 Senior Spotlight✨✨
A bit late, but we just couldn’t let this one go early. ❤️
Madeline Braverman started in the performing arts at age 4, dancing at Elite Dance Academy, where she spent 10 years studying tap, ballet, and jazz, with 2 years on the competitive tap team. When she moved to Ascend Dance Center in 2021, she joined the senior company and added modern and hip-hop to her repertoire. She has also had featured dancing rolls in her middle and high school’s performances of SpongeBob the Musical, Mary Poppins, and most recently, Once Upon a One More Time.
Her specialty is tap, which led her to audition and score an apprenticeship with the Philadelphia-based, professional all-women tap ensemble, The Lady Hoofers, where she has performed in their holiday special, The Tapcracker, as well as their Spring Concert Series. With the Lady Hoofers, Madeline has taken masterclasses with the likes of world-renowned tappers Star Dixon, Dormeisha, Connor Kelly, Dre Torres, and Chloe and Maud Arnold. She has also choreographed several tap dances to perform with her school music ensembles.
Her senior solo tap dance will be performed with choreography she has written for music she has custom transcribed for her instruments and recorded at a professional recording studio. Madeline has worked on this project for the whole year as her Senior Independent Study PEN project.
Madeline has received a full architecture scholarship to Syracuse University, where she also plans to continue her two great loves of playing music and dancing.
When not dancing, she has spent the last four years as part of CB South’s marching band and music department playing clarinet, and soprano and alto saxophones. For two years, she was part of the musical pit orchestra tripling on soprano saxophone, Eb clarinet, and Bb clarinet in The Music Man, and doubling on Eb clarinet and Bb clarinet in Sweeney Todd, which won the Philadelphia Independence Award for Best Pit Orchestra.
Congratulations, Mads! We love you and miss you already!
