Wardsboro Curtain Call

Wardsboro Curtain Call The mission of Wardsboro Curtain Call is to plan, promote and produce a variety of entertainment events in Wardsboro's Town Hall.

Wardsboro Curtain Call (WCC) is a small volunteer group of Wardsboro residents with a great interest in bringing entertainment to Wardsboro's Town Hall. The hall is usually set up in cafe fashion for the shows. Excellent refreshments are available, and most shows are BYOB (wine, beer). The 2017 schedule includes six shows - a variety of musical genres with something for everyone:
4-22 Sofia Talv

ik, Swedish singer-songwriter
5-19 Dance Party with The Wyld Nightz Band
6-17 Mister Dix, playing rock, funk, alt-country
7-22 David Olney, "Nashville's answer to the Bard", with Daniel Seymour. Hungrytown opens the show.
9-16 Neptune's Car, contemporary folk duo
10-13 Scott Ainslie, blues musician and historian

In 2016, the first year WCC began programming, three very successful shows were produced: a dance party with The MILES Band, a CD release show with Luminous Crush, and a concert with Sarah McQuaid. Before WCC began producing shows, the group's mission was to make improvements to Wardsboro Town Hall's stage area. In 2014, with lots of fundraising and very generous donations, plus being awarded a Cultural Facilities grant from the Vermont Arts Council, WCC was able to acquire, conserve and install a set of antique hand-painted scenic backdrop curtains. The stage area was cleaned and painted, and new velvet front draperies were purchased and installed. Kevin Sabin generously donated the sanding/refinishing of the stage floor. In 2015, WCC funded lighting improvements to the stage. In early 2016, Wardsboro's Select Board purchased new chairs and had the hall floor refinished. With all these improvements made, WCC was inspired to evolve into programming mode. Learn more at www.wardsborocurtaincall.net

Will Louisa the maid claim the reward for herself? Can they do it before the banker demolishes their historic hotel headquarters? Action, intrigue, romance, international affairs, and so much more! “My Lady of Whims” has it all! Come watch The Vermont Suitcase Company unravel threads and tie up loose ends in this silent film adaptation.

This Thursday!

The Wardsboro Public Library will be screening a documentary about book banning in libraries during Library Week - Thursday, April 23 at 5pm

"In partnership with Independent Lens, the Library will screen a documentary about how restrictions on library content are shaping communities. Discussion and refreshments to follow."

" In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQia+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale"
