❄️🚐 WINTER STORAGE CONTRACTS AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 1ST! 🚤❄️

It’s almost that time again! Beginning September 1st, Winter Storage contracts can be picked up at the Auglaize County Fair Office.

Winter Storage is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED, based on when your completed contract AND payment are received, so don’t wait too long to reserve your space!

And don’t worry, picking up your contract in September does NOT mean your unit needs to come in yet. Our regular Winter Storage period is:

📥 UNIT IN: November 1, 2026
📤 UNIT OUT: March 1, 2027

There are a few important changes to know for the 2026–2027 Winter Storage season!

❄️ Our standard storage period will now run from November 1 through March 1.

❄️ Storage during October 2026 and March 2027 may be available; however, space options will be limited during those additional months.

❄️ License plate information will now be required on your storage contract. Before stopping in to complete your paperwork, make sure you have your unit information, including the license plate information, ready to go!

Have questions about rates, storage time frames, available space or what types of items we can store? Give the Fair Office a call and we’ll be happy to help!

📜🎡 THROWBACK THURSDAY | THE ALPHA CAFE

As we prepare for the 175th Auglaize County Fair, we’ve been digging through more than a century of Fair archives, and every so often we find a familiar name staring back at us from the pages.

For our first Throwback Thursday, we’re traveling all the way back to 1903 and the 40th Annual Auglaize County Fair, where we found this original advertisement for The Alpha Saloon and Restaurant, known today as the Alpha Cafe!

The advertisement offered everything from lunch and short-order meals to a pool and billiard hall described as “the most up-to-date in the city.” 😊

And there is even more history behind those doors.

The Alpha’s beautiful 24-foot, hand-carved white oak back bar dates to 1893, meaning it was already part of the Alpha’s story when this Fair advertisement was printed more than 120 years ago. Through generations, changing times and even a move across the street, pieces of that history have been preserved.

One of those generations included William Gutmann, who owned and worked at the Alpha Cafe from 1938 to 2004.

But our favorite part of discovering the Alpha in our 1903 Fair archives is realizing that its connection to the Auglaize County Fair never really disappeared.

Today, Alpha Cafe continues to support the Fair as a longtime sponsor of our Harness Racing Program. 🐎❤️

From an advertisement in our 40th Annual Fair Premium List to supporting us as we prepare for Fair number 175, that is a relationship spanning generations.

As we count down to our historic 175th celebration, we’ll be opening the archives and sharing more photographs, advertisements, programs and stories from the people and businesses that helped make the Auglaize County Fair what it is today.

Some Fair traditions are measured in years.

Others are measured in generations. ❤️

Thank you, Alpha Cafe, for being part of ours.

Long before many of the unforgettable artists who have graced our Grandstand stage, there was a summer evening in 1972 when Dolly Parton came to Wapakoneta as part of The Porter Wagoner Show.

On Sunday, August 6, 1972, Dolly performed at the Auglaize County Fair alongside Porter Wagoner, Speck Rhodes, The Wagonmasters and The LeFevres. Looking back through our archives more than five decades later, we are reminded just how special it is that one small chapter of her extraordinary story happened right here at our Fair.

Dolly went on to become so much more than a country music legend. She was a songwriter, storyteller, philanthropist, businesswoman and a source of joy and kindness to generations of people. Her music crossed generations, but perhaps even more remarkable was the heart she shared beyond it.

For those who were sitting in our Grandstand that August night in 1972, we imagine today brings back some wonderful memories. And for those of us who came later, we are grateful that the Auglaize County Fair gets to hold a tiny piece of her remarkable history.

Thank you for the music, the memories and the joy, Dolly.

1946–2026 🤍🎶

From our Grandstand to the Grand Ole Opry and far beyond, your light reached an incredible number of people. We are honored that, once upon a summer night, it shined here too.
