It’s National Mascot Day! Mascots, particularly for sports teams, events, and the like, are one of the specialties I do in my art. A mascot for a sports team was what sparked my interest in drawing anthro characters. This interest even led to having my own characters become official mascots for teams such as the Quad City Flames of the AHL and the Boston Renegades of the Women’s Football Alliance. The love for sports mascots is what keeps me drawing. I could not imagine what I would be doing or where I would be if there weren’t any mascots. All I know is that there would be no Cyan Glaciertooth, no Polar Wildcat Studios, no anthro art of mine. I have these characters to thank for making this all happen, getting me to where I am today.
In celebration of National Mascot Day, along with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, here’s a bit of fan art of the FIFA 2026 mascots, Maple the Moose, Clutch the Bald Eagle, and Zayu the Jaguar. They represent the three countries hosting this year’s World Cup, Maple representing Canada, Clutch representing the United States, and Zayu representing Mexico.
