Yesterday, Contra Costa Musical Theatre wrapped our fall production of Ain't Misbehavin.’ We want to thank our talented performers, band members, crew, and friends who helped bring this production to life and make this show successful!

It's the last weekend to see CCMT's production of Ain't Misbehavin' at the Lesher Center for the Arts. Tonight – Sunday, our talented cast will once again bring the iconic music of Fats Waller to life through their wonderful singing, dancing, and acting. Before you see the show, we want to introduce you to our talented cast…meet Dedrick Weathersby!*

Dedrick is excited to make his CCMT debut. Still, you may recognize him from TV…he is an Emmy Award Winner for Best Interview Discussion with Theatre Corner on PBS/KPBS (the episode is still available on The PBS app under Season 2!). He is also a Broadway World Winner for Best Lead Actor in a Musical.

A few of his favorite roles include Regional/Tour: DreamGirls (Jimmy James Thunder Early); Ragtime (Coalhouse Walker Jr); RENT (Angel); IN THE HEIGHTS (Benny); Hairspray (Seaweed); The Fantasticks (El Gallo); The Music Man (Harold Hill); Much Ado About Nothing (Don Pedro); The Mountaintop (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr) and Remembering James- The Life and Music of James Brown (James Brown), most recently seen in Scottsboro Boys at 42nd Street Moon and A Soldier's Play with Altarena Playhouse. It's the last weekend to see CCMT's production of Ain't Misbehavin' at the Lesher Center for the Arts. This Thursday – Sunday, our talented cast will once again bring the iconic music of Fats Waller to life through their wonderful singing, dancing, and acting.

Before you see the show, we want to introduce you to our talented cast…meet Courtnee Rhone. Ain't Misbehavin' might be Courtnee's CCMT debut, but she is no stranger to the Lesher Theatre stage! She is classically trained and has been singing for over five years. Vocal achievements include singing with the Livermore Opera, Lamplighters Musical Theatre, Golden Gate Opera, and Festival Opera. Her most recent role performed was with the Vienna Summer Music Festival in the production of Don Giovanni as Donna Elvira. She has also played the roles of Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Lizzy Splendor (The Boy Who Grew Too Fast), Mere Superieure ( La Fille Tambour Major), and La Cadette (Isabelle Aboulker's Cendrillon).

Courtnee is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and holds a Master's of Music in Vocal Performance from California State University, East Bay, and a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance from Dillard University in New Orleans, LA.

Come see CCMT's production of Ain't Misbehavin tonight – Sunday at the Lesher Center for the Arts!

Before you see the show, we want to introduce you to our talented cast…meet Rudy "Roods" Brown. This is Rudy’s third CCMT production – you may have also seen him in our spring production of Ain’t Misbehavin’ or last year’s production of The 25th Annual Spelling Bee as Mitch Mahoney. In the past, he has performed in shows such as RENT (x3), Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray (x3), Footloose, Sweet Charity, Wild Party, Fiddler on the Roof, Cinderella, and Season 2 Episode 8 of Supermarket Sweep (2021).

When he's not on stage, Rudy spends his time traveling California and trying out new food locations for his Instagram food blog, . Check it out!

Before you see the show, we want to introduce you to our talented cast…meet Ashley Forney. This is Ashley’s first performance with CCMT, but you may recognize her from her recent performance as Trix in Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble’s The Drowsy Chaperone. Her favorite role has been Medda Larkin in Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre’s Newsies. Other credits include Oliver! and Sister Act with PTC, as well as Hairspray and Ragtime with Tri-Valley Repertory
Theatre. In her “real life” she works in human resources for a recruiting agency.

Andrea is a beloved Bay Area performer and even received the coveted Bay Area Shelley Award for her talents! Prior roles include Aldonza in Man of LaMancha, Eliza (My Fair Lady), Nell Carter (Ain’t Misbehavin), Narrator (Joseph and the Amazing technicolor Dreamcoat), Grizabella (Cats), Nettie Fowler (Carousel), and Aunt Em/Glinda (The Wiz). Chris is a trumpeter, composer, and singer. He is also a member of the Oakland Symphony Chorus, Golden Gate Symphony Chorus, Men's Chorus at Acts Full Gospel Church, National Anthem singer for the Harlem Globetrotters, and National Anthem singer for Department of Homeland Security's Naturalization Oath Ceremonies in California.

Our production comes to life under the direction of Steven Thomas, an incredible talent who has spent his entire life bringing the arts to people of all ages. Steven brings his passion and experience to our latest production, and we were thrilled to spend time with him to get some insight into his vision for CCMT’s “Ain’t Misbehahvin!”
