Get whisked away with this upcoming concert of dreamy music 💭🪈

The album in.cantations dives beneath the surface of the body, into subconscious dreams, inner landscapes, and hidden stories. On June 20th, the eve of the summer solstice, flutist Jane Rigler brings this music to the Hudson Valley, presenting tracks from the album as interludes woven between live premieres of her new compositions.

in.cantations was made in the summer of 2024 in Colorado Springs — spontaneous, improvised pieces created with guitarist Janet Feder. By the time the album was released in November 2025, Jane had moved more than a thousand miles away. Now, presented as a solo show, she weaves her sonic textures of dreams, imagination, and languages from long ago, inviting listeners to conjure their own inner stories. Come gather on the land at WildHeart and celebrate the light: one of the longest, brightest days of the year.

We have a great opportunity that just opened up this summer at WildHeart for artists / companies seeking residency space in a beautiful retreat environment in the Hudson Valley!

We have two different buildings available for rent that come with free studio access. Our newly renovated studio is 38'x25' open space with a radiant heat sprung dance floor, rig points for aerial work in the space and against the walls, an overhead lighting grid, expansive glass doors and windows, a music system, and strong AC. While onsite, you'll have access to this space, for no extra cost, whenever it is available (usually 8-14 hours a day!). All the details below, please let us know if you or someone you know is interested!

As one of the earliest instigators of Contact Improvisation, Nita shares her passions, thoughts, and investigations based on her decades of experience in the dance form. You have a chance to train with someone who lives and breathes CI! Nita will be coming to the East Coast to WildHeart to host her workshop, Diving Into the Fabric of Touch, happening June 4-7 (next week)

The Humane Society of Walden is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit safe haven dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray and abandoned cats and dogs. All proceeds go back to the shelter! WILDHEART TURNS FOUR TODAY!!

4 years ago today, we arrived in this stunning place with a fire in our hearts to build a different way of life. Now, hundreds of programs later, having hosted thousands of people, built and rebuilt the long-term community, we are still cultivating that initial fire at the intersection of performance and embodiment practice.

There's never a dull moment – instead it's countless delights, and a relentlessly steep learning curve. This year has been our biggest year yet in many ways, here are some highlights. We:

🌈 Are currently a community of 1 cat, 2 dogs, and 8 people, including 2 children - Maiella who is 9 months now, was born at WildHeart last August!
🌈 Launched Shared Stage, our biggest recurring performance evening (tickets available now for the latest one on June 13th)
🌈 Hosted Bread and Puppet by the lake, welcoming 350+ people (the most we've ever had onsite!)
🌈 Hosted 10+ multiday artist residencies (including HERE Arts Center)
🌈 Hosted our first Wedding (wow, it was gorgeous!)
🌈 Have entered the aerial arts scene - hosting aerial workshops, rehearsals, and performances
🌈 Have seen yet another stunning spring leaf out the trees
🌈 Danced in the barn, walked in the woods, swam in the lake, shared meals, had weekly checkins, had weekly meditation and singing practice, met ourselves and each other in our highs and our lows over and over and over again - this is the life we've been building.
..and so much more!

We are heading into our fifth year with so much more experience and knowledge about what it takes to build and sustain this place. We begin year five truly humbled by how much effort (and money!) it takes to make it all possible. If you've read this far, thank you for caring about WildHeart. We are not fundraising, but we do have an ask: please take a look at our upcoming programming and invite three people to specific events. Please help us grow the community.

Our very popular Vertical Dance Workshop with Steep Horizon Dance is back! June 13 + 14, 1 - 4 PM both days.

Vertical dance is a kind of aerial dance that uses climbing gear—harnesses and rope and fixed anchors—to get suspended and move in the air. In this workshop, several off-the-ground options will be available, such as being fully suspended in space, skimming just above the floor, or dancing sideways using a wall as your dance floor. ✈️🪁🥏

No experience needed! Super fun, challenging, and so much room for exploration.
Contact Improv will be incorporated in parts of the workshop.

Bio:
Nita Little investigates embodied attention within improvisational and technical movement practices with a concentration on the technicities of both creative and relational practices. A dance researcher, theorist/artist, and one of the founding developers of Contact Improvisation (CI) she teaches around the globe, guiding one of its forward leading edges. She began over 50 years ago, working alongside her teacher at Bennington College, Steve Paxton, on materials that became CI (1972) and was a participant in the earliest performances and teaching that helped it to become significant within dance and dance communities. She is executive director of the Institute for the Study of Somatic Communication (ISSC, 2016), a network of laboratories populated by dancer researchers and associate research experts from diverse fields. Currently she tours throughout the year and may be found on 6 continents.
