We’re thrilled to welcome Ana V. Ramirez as one of our guest artists for June, July and August!
From Ana:
“I began my art journey as a photographer but my desire to make something with my
hands has led me to create mixed media collages using my photos, vintage and handmade papers, drawings, and other materials. Assembling physical objects on paper is an exciting new phase in my art practice.
“The current state of the housing market, something I feel very strongly about, has been a source of inspiration for my work. I create my patchwork houses using architectural elements and the recognizable imagery of a house: the angled roof, bricks and siding, rectangular windows, curtains inside the windows, etc. But you will rarely find doors on my houses. Doors are a way in and, as a metaphor for our times, these houses are not meant to be entered. The viewer and I stand outside
and only get a glimpse inside.”
