You don’t want to miss tomorrow’s Sunday in the Gallery! Kris Stewart will be showing us how to make traditional cyanotypes using the sun to expose images. Word has it she’ll also share how she created the artwork in our current show Beyond the Surface. And time permitting, you’ll be able to make your own cyanotype to take home. Free, everyone welcome.

We’re pleased to announce our second guest artist for the summer, Darin Yates. Darin is best known for his colorful horses, animals, and native American
figurative work that blends realism with colorful backgrounds in acrylics on canvas.

Darin finds his inspiration by going on photography trips to the southwest - Sedona and Arizona in particular. Hiking into canyons and trails and then looking through his photos when he gets back to his studio. From Darin: “The magic of painting them comes when I sit down at the easel and imagine the painting in my head with bright colors and loose brush strokes. I’ve been doing art my whole life and nothing makes me happier than to move someone with my art.”

Darin’s vibrant paintings will be on view through August.

We’re thrilled to welcome Ana V. Ramirez as one of our guest artists for June, July and August!

From Ana:
“I began my art journey as a photographer but my desire to make something with my
hands has led me to create mixed media collages using my photos, vintage and handmade papers, drawings, and other materials. Assembling physical objects on paper is an exciting new phase in my art practice.

“The current state of the housing market, something I feel very strongly about, has been a source of inspiration for my work. I create my patchwork houses using architectural elements and the recognizable imagery of a house: the angled roof, bricks and siding, rectangular windows, curtains inside the windows, etc. But you will rarely find doors on my houses. Doors are a way in and, as a metaphor for our times, these houses are not meant to be entered. The viewer and I stand outside
and only get a glimpse inside.”

ENDS SUNDAY! This is the last weekend to experience Make Your Strand Count, a compelling exhibit from founding members Lynn Woolson and Tricia Harding. The show offers a powerful visual statement encouraging individuals to take an active role in shaping their lives. Through layered materials and collaborative processes, the exhibition invites reflection on how even the most delicate thread contributes to the strength and integrity of the whole.

We’re excited to announce our June exhibit, Beyond the Surface featuring art and artists books by Kris Stewart. Kris invites you into the world of experimental cyanotypes. Unlike traditional methods, she works wet, pushing the cyanotype process into unexpected territory with a range of additives to create striking edges, rich depth, and a sense of movement that seems almost alive. A layer of oil pastel or acrylic paint emerge in some pieces, adding additional intrigue. The result is a body of work that rewards curiosity; the closer you look, the more you find!
