Come From Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander's airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we're all part of a global family.

Come support our Summer Youth Program! Upstage Teens will be performing The Villain Wore A Dirty Shirt on July 17th and 18th at 7:30pm. These young actors have been working hard, learning their lines and are excited to bring you an amazing performance. Tickets are on sale now at LTWW.org.
Show Synopsis: Laundries are big business in the mining town of Digalittledeeper. The ’Tub and Scrub’ is operated by Olympia Klenz and Sweet Sally. The young sheriff is in love with Sally, but every time he gets close he turns into a babbling fool. Meanwhile, our villain, Phineas Flatworm, discovers Olympia has been rinsing gold flecks from miners’ laundry for years, and she’s amassed a tidy sum. The villain figures if he had the only laundry in town, he’d make a million! With the aid of his hilarious mother, Mrs. Mugwump, and Lola-Lola, a talentless flamenco dancer, he gets control of the ’Tub and Scrub.’ Lola-Lola plans to marry Phineas, but not if Mrs. Mugwump has anything to say about it! The other laundries ’mysteriously’ burn down. Mayor Haggle gives the ’Tub and Scrub’ a civic award, and a ghost accuses the villain of his crimes. The highlight of the wacky spoof is a laundry fight that hasn’t been equaled since the pie-tossing days of silent films. The evildoers are brought to the soap-bar of justice, and the sheriff conquers his shyness and proposes to Sweet Sally.

The Little Theatre of Walla Walla is now accepting applications for a brand new, position that will help shape performing arts in the Walla Walla Valley.

The Next Stage Youth Project Coordinator is LTWW's first paid youth programs staff member and will lead day-to-day coordination of the Next Stage Youth Theater Project. The Coordinator manages scheduling and logistics for Spotlight Kids, Upstage Teens, and the new Playmakers program; designs and curates curriculum and monthly workshop offerings; recruits and supports a growing, diverse roster of Teaching Artists; builds and maintains partnerships with regional arts, education, and disability-services organizations; and leads outreach to engage more youth from Columbia County and rural Walla Walla County. The Coordinator also serves as a Teaching Artist for program components as needed. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role for someone who is equally comfortable building a workshop calendar, mentoring a teenage stage manager, and representing LTWW at a school or community partner meeting.

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt — 0.5 FTE
Funding: Grant-funded position (Allen Family Philanthropies, Next Stage Youth Theater Project)
Location: Little Theatre of Walla Walla, with regular travel to Waitsburg and Dayton (Columbia County)

Today is a fantastic day for WA youth arts programs as the Allen Family Philanthropies announced the awards for the Creative Youth Development (CYD) grant. The CYD program is providing $5 million in new funding over the three year grant cycle to organizations state wide to strengthen and expand access for youth (ages 13-26) to out-of-school-time creative discipline opportunities.

The Little Theatre of Walla Walla is thrilled to be cast as one of 10 organizations in the cohort being funded!

The Little Theatre of Walla Walla (LTWW) mission is to raise their curtain to volunteers and audiences as a welcoming space where creative arts take center stage. Funding will support youth-led ensemble theatre programs, incorporating youth productions, musical theatre, and professional development for teaching artists to enhance youth artistry and leadership and serve rural youth annually across Walla Walla and Columbia County.
