Time to start planning Wakefield's 80th July 4th Parade! All are welcome to the meeting tonight - 6:30pm at The Savings Bank, 357 Main St, Wakefield. (The room with all the windows!)

Planning Wakefield's 80th July 4th Parade (105th Anniversary) has begun! The parade is on Sunday, July 4th at 5pm. We have a new location and time for monthly meetings of Wakefield Independence Day Committee (WIDC):

Tuesday, Sept. 8: The Savings Bank conference room at 357 Main St. 6:30pm. (The library is great but we can only reserve one meeting ahead. Will use for subcommittees.)

You can be a monthly WIDC volunteer and attend meeting and help with special events such as April Vacation Carnival, Farmers Market, Festival by Lake, Main St. Grille, etc. We also will be a trunk at Trunk or Treat October 21.

Especially vital to the parade are the Parade Day volunteers -- setting up and running the parade!

The WIDC is a nonprofit organization and has a board elected in two year term at the October 15th Annual Meeting. If you would like information on being on the board, email [email protected]

Also, we maintain an e-mail group list so let us know if you want to be on it! Be involved with the fun! Will include a NEW volunteer shirt design and color for the 80th - to be determined!

Follow this... Always need floats in the parade - business and nonprofit - Stoneham Ford could enter this float pulled by a stylish Bronco! Add some July 4th patriotic attire and all set! A float as a float!

We always appreciate Stoneham Ford for lending grand marshal or other parade convertibles!

And it's never too early to plan your float. The WIDC is most likely bringing back cash prizes for floats winners. TBC.

With Drum Corps International – we just got recognized as one of their top fans! 🎉 We hope to get another DCI band coming our way July 4th, 2027!
