As I walked around talking to vendors at the Festival, I heard compliments repeated over and over about how well the Festival was organized and what a lovely setting we have. The organizational aspect is due to members of the WCNA working hard for months in advance to make sure everything will be ready and leaving nothing to chance. The venue is maintained by the WCNA and the Town's DPW. The booth layout is done with great care and attention to detail. One vendor said he loved the wide aisles, so shoppers and strollers didn't block the lanes. We were fortunate to have some breezes, but not too much wind, although two vendors who didn't have leg weights on their tents had issues on Sunday. Photos below courtesy of Candy Huang Chan.

Here are 2 photos from Sunday's Festival by the Lake, courtesy of Candy Huang Chan. Thank you for sharing them with us! First, we haven't had the ride-on train for several years, and it was a hit. As you can see, it traveled back and forth on Church Street. Second photo: good shopping habits are best instilled early. Two young ladies appreciating fine quality crafts!

How was the Festival yesterday? One attendee gave it the thumbs up! But also Hot! attendees didn't eat as much hot food (burgers, dogs, pizza) as expected, but water bottles sold out from the large food tent. The crafters and artisans I met were all warm and welcoming, ready to describe their products. Each non-profit had a great display to explain its mission and inviting aromas wafted from the booths and trucks of our food vendors.
I took so many photos, and have started receiving them from other attendees, that I'm going to share them on this page, a few at a time. If you have some to share, send them to [email protected].
Photo #1 - Not staged! This lady realized I was going to take a photo and spontaneously turned around and gave me the thumbs-up. Inglin Crafts had a corner booth and was doing very well when I passed by (full disclosure: I bought a bracelet I'd seen in their promo pics).

Hey, if you're going to the Festival tomorrow (or today, if you're reading this on Sunday) could you take some photos and send them to us? We could use some great (in-focus) photos to use during the wrap-up for this year and in the lead-up to next year's event. Sometimes we, the people who put on the Festival, get so busy we don't have the time or forget to take pics. Send yours by message to WCNA or email to [email protected]. Thanks!

The big reveal - where can you find each of the vendors and organizations participating in the Festival by the Lake? Below is a map showing each vendor's last name, accompanied by an alphabetized 4-page listing of vendors, with company names. Each of the vendors has also been in the spotlight in a post on this FB page during the past couple of months, so you can find more about them by scrolling down, down, down.
VENDORS & ORGANIZATIONS- you still MUST sign-in at the gate with the WCNA staff before setting up your booth. Thanks!
We're looking forward to a fabulous Sunday Festival: 10am-4pm.

On Friday night (or Saturday morning) we expect to upload a copy of the Festival layout, showing how the booths are laid out in rows, with the last name of each vendor. It has taken many hours to put it together, and there may be last minute changes. Please do not contact the festival manager about it. Make sure to wear your walking shoes - it's a big fair! Here's a preview with booth numbers only. The double curved line at the bottom represents Church St, circles are trees. No more info available right now.

EVERY organization, EVERY food vendor, EVERY artist and craftsperson who will have a booth at this Sunday's Festival by the Lake on Wakefield's Lower Common has been put into the spotlight via a post on this page. Plan your shopping now, because you'll have just 6 hours (10am-4pm) to trek through all 138 booths. There will be plenty of good food and great music to fortify you, so enjoy the day! If you'd rather volunteer than shop, we can use your helping hands. Come to the Library's Trustee Room at 8 pm or send an email to [email protected] right now.
