Wakefield’s Linden Tree Concerts presents
Rob Flax Boom Chick Trio on Sunday, May 17th at 2 pm

The Linden Tree Concert series has a fabulous show for audiences of all ages on Sunday, May 17th from 2 to 4 pm. Rooted in equal parts hot swing, snarky songwriting, and lyrical storytelling, this energetic trio of virtuoso violin, guitar, and bass plus three part harmony vocals will transport you to a speakeasy somewhere in the back of a bar. You might not be able to sit still in your seat, and you’ll probably have a smile on your face most of the show! “Hotshot swing, crackerjack instrumentals, superb harmonies & hysterical stagecraft” —The Folk Project

Rob Flax possesses a rare combination of skills: he is an award-winning violinist, classically trained but known for his jazz and improvisational pyrotechnics and irresistible grooves, plus a deep knowledge of American fiddle traditions. He's also a powerhouse vocalist, capable of silky crooning a la Nat King Cole or visceral Chicago blues shouts, and a consummate songwriter with lyrical depth to complement the instrumental virtuosity.

Rob Flax's Boom Chick Trio adds guitar, upright bass, and three part vocals to the mix, elevating Rob's eclectic originals with intricate instrumental interplay, tight vocal harmonies, and irreverent humor.

Joining Rob is Slava Tolstoy, a Boston based guitarist, singer and producer, originally from St. Petersburg Russia. Slava’s original songs are best described as energetic pop-rock with tight arrangements, virtuoso soloing and deep and meaningful lyrics in the best traditions of Russian rock.

Chris Sartori is a bassist, percussionist, and multi-instrumentalist currently based out of Boston. “Hotshot swing, crackerjack instrumentals, superb harmonies & hysterical stagecraft” —The Folk ProjectThroughout 10+ years touring nationally with Americana genre-defiers, Twisted Pine, Chris has studiously carved out a niche as the funkiest bassist in bluegrass. A graduate of the Jazz program at Umass Amherst, Chris is a lifelong student of music, dedicated to groove, improvisation, and bringing the music to life each night. Each has been in more award winning traveling groups that we could list here.

Tickets for this show will be $25, for those under 18 are $10. WUMB members receive a $2 discount with their membership card. We accept cash or personal check at the door. Because this is a popular show, reservations are recommended by calling or texting 781 521 3564.

CONCERTS PRESENTS: CHRISTINE LAVIN LIVE!
SUNDAY, OCT. 5, 2025. 2 TO 4 PM. NEW LOCATION.

The Linden Tree Concert 41st Season will continue on Sunday, October 5th with the often humorous, often clever singer-songwriter CHRISTINE LAVIN.

Christine Lavin has been called the Folk World's long reigning Queen of the Intelligently Absurd. The title of one of her earlier albums, "I Don't Make This Stuff Up, I just Make it Rhyme" says it all. Christine Lavin is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/recording artist/author/videographer who has been based in New York City since 1976. Her latest album, her 25th, ON MY WAY TO HOOTERVILLE, includes 10 new songs and one re-worked song, "Ramblin' Waltz," a re-telling of her time in 1975 when she was one of the entourage drivers for the first week of the tour of the The Rolling Thunder R***e.

Christine has an eye for the ironic and the absurd in the news and everyday life, and puts it into song. She dresses it all up in skillful guitar work, electronic loops and wonderful gimmicks. She has won numerous awards for her songwriting and her book, COLD PIZZA FOR BREAKFAST: A MEM-WHA??. Supportive of other songwriters she admires, Christine has produced ten compilation, showcasing 100 songwriters. Her song AMOEBA HOP, a science music book illustrated by Betsy Franco recived a “Best Book Award” from the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

“It is precisely her take on the ordinary that makes her work so extraordinary.”
