I am constantly inspired by the beauty and grace of the environment, the mountains of Vermont, the ever changing skies and seas and the glory of sunsets. I am grateful for the ability to sit still and watch these things unfold. I try to represent my appreciation for these things in paint, capturing a moment in

time. Also, if I am not seeing at the moment, what I would like to, I happily create that scene! The nature of fluid painting allows for many versions of the same subject with every single painting being entirely unique. I hope you look at several Seascapes, sunsets or landscapes to see how the paintings are as individual as the environment is. I also sometimes just cut loose and let the paint tell me what it chooses to do with the pallet I present at that particular moment. The specific gravity of the individual pigments arrange themselves by sinking or rising through the layers of color, producing surprising results. It is an odd feeling to have such limited control of the flowing pigments, but there is freedom in that as well. I am constantly surprised and learning day by day about this interaction. Still, I suspect that the chemistry of these pigments will continue to drive the bus! I hope you enjoy and look forward to your thoughts, Brooke

Waking up this morning to the election news was a poisonous way to start a day. It took me an hour to get out of bed and once I did that I really didn’t know what else to do. So I started the rituals of a day and still just didn’t feel connected to the ground.

Then I called one of my dearest friends and said I’m going to make a large vat of the best chicken noodle soup you ever had for dinner. I’m going to spend the whole afternoon working on it so come over for dinner. I had to go to get the ingredients , but first Beanie needed a walk which is normal for the day.

We started walking across the polo field and she did her business in the tall grass that they don’t mow. Next thing I know, ears flapping in the wind, big smile, her face eyes all lit up with joy she’s bouncing towards me in the sunlight. In that moment I realized that what we really need to do is find joy, pleasure and fun wherever we can find it and not let this thing get us down.

We can get through a few horrible years, listening to an entitled pompus criminal human being remind us of how many people there are out there that think he is king. I find that a very discouraging thought .

But my happy little dog and my very good friends and a good pot of soup will get us through this day. Then they’ll be another day and we’ll figure that one out too until the day comes when, hopefully collectively, we will make a better choice for ourselves and our future. I’m sadly disappointed as to who we are as a nation, but another day will come, and we will have a chance to do better.
