Wingspan
I grew up playing classic games with my parents, The Game of Life, Skipbo, Sorry, Rummikub, Rook, etc. As I've gotten into the modem gaming hobby, I've learned to share rules-light games with them. During their visit, we tried Wingspan. They enjoy birding as a hobby, and they were more open to the game for the birds. It went better than I expected. It took a few rounds to get the flow, and even then I'd need to coach sometimes to remember to move the action cubes down a row and activate everything--the cubes were a great call. It was pleasant enough that my mom asked to play the next night. My dad, who gets uncomfortable sitting for too long because his back issues, even seemed to enjoy himself once the rules fog cleared up. If anything, it was fun to read the bird facts.
