No words can express how fortunate Kaʻala Farm is to have you. A Kiaʻi, an Educator, a Leader, a Farm Manager, a Water Manager, a Mahiʻai, a Shepherd, a Caretaker, and more. This place would not run smoothly without you. 💯

Aloha aku, aloha mai! You love everyone that you encounter so sincerely and deeply, so may you receive all of that aloha in return. On behalf of the Kaʻala team, the community, and all the keiki, ʻōpio, mākua and kūpuna you have reached…

As we close out 2025, we humbly ask for your kako'o (support) of Kaʻala Farm. Your year-end gift helps us mālama ʻāina (take care of the land), strengthen our kaiāulu (community), and share ʻike kūpuna (ancestor knowledge) through hands-on cultural education.

Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for standing with us and helping us move into 2026 with strength and purpose.

We had the honor of being invited to 1st Semester Ho‘ike! It was an amazing experience and so uplifting to see that the hana that we do here in Ka‘ala really resinates with our ‘opio in our community. Aina based education is extremely imperative to the sustainability of our people especially in this modern day where western systems replace our traditional ones, “out with the old and in with the new” mentality.

All our haumana ran their own stations putting to use what they’ve learned in our programs such as ‘Ai Pono (to eat right) and Kalo Fusion (using our traditional indigenous ingredients to make modern recipes). All the mea ‘ai was soooo Ono💯🔥🥇So proud of all the hard work and energy they put in to their presentations!
Mahalo to all the kumu of this program for all you do to instill ike into our ‘opio💎 and for all your kokua here at Ka‘ala Farm🙏🏾Mahalo to our dedicated staff for showing up, on aina and off!

It was a bitter sweet moment today with our Fire Mitigation & Animal Husbandry haumana and kumu💎It was the last day for many of them as they forward on to great things ❤️Mahalo for all your kokua and good energy you all brought to this special space! Our kumu really enjoyed working with each and every one of you and look forward to what life has in store for these young future leaders in our community💯Mahalo to our crew for always coming in clutch to prepare, teach and hana!

Hele mai! Join us this Saturday 9/13 at our monthly Lā Kokua Kaʻala for our annual Road Cleanup in collaboration with our partner 💚🤍

Being that we are located in some of the major hot points, we are taking action in helping to prevent the destruction of wildfires that have plagued us throughout our time here. We will be clearing opala and w**d whacking to clear the brush that can easily set fire.

Let’s kako‘o one another to malama this beautiful moku of ours!

Event schedule:

8:30am-arrival (@ Punana property below Ka‘ala Farm)

8:45am-protocol & introduction

9-12pm-hana (clean opala & w**d whack)

12-12:30pm-Pua Hana & lunch!

It was so nice to have ‘Ohana visit, some for the first time!

This fairly new unique group was created to promote homeschooling, where one day a week they hui together and provide their keiki education through hands on experience, cultural knowledge and connection to aina, their community & their ‘ohana.

This is a kahea to our aloha aina/malama aina orgs in our beautiful kaiāulu. Let’s continue to support our kanaka who are striving to provide ike to their youths beyond western education💯

Big Mahalo nui to our ʻāina & huakaʻi ʻohana & for putting together this years Hōʻakea: Mauka to Makai Event!

Some of our kumu had the opportunity to teach the fine arts of lauhala and kapa to our 4th graders across the whole Waianae Coast for 2 days alongside many of our ‘āina ‘Ohana doing amazing work in our moku and abroad! Such a mana-full day💚
