Professor Shane Eenholm is back with another chapter in tattoo machine history.

This time, Shane breaks down the origin of the “Walker” and how that machine concept eventually evolved into what tattooers came to know as the cutback liner.

Long before tattoo machines became something you ordered with a click, tattooers were cutting frames, changing geometry, modifying springs, experimenting with contact points and figuring out how to make machines run faster, harder and cleaner.

This is the history behind the hardware.
