Provide a hands-on experience to festival guests!

Have an idea for a fun art activity that you want to share with the community. Let’s make it happen! Proposal submissions are open!

Selected interactive activities are not guaranteed financial support; however, all selected activities will receive a free Taste The Arts Interactive Activity booth.

• Interactive Ceramics (handbuilding/wheelthrowing)
• Interactive Mural
• Steamroller Blockprints
• Screenprinting
• Temporary body art (henna, skin-safe ink tattoos, screenprinted tattoos)
• Japanese Tea Ceremony (3 sessions throughout the day)
• Instrument Petting Zoo
• Paintable Zoo (paintable animal sculptures)
• Interactive Art Cafe (self guided art activities)
• Fun With Food (vegetable sculptures)

DEADLINE EXTENDED
CALL TO ARTISTS

The Tulare County General Services Agency and the Arts Consortium are requesting design proposals for painted concrete games:
• co****le set
• table tennis table
• dominos table with four stools
• a chess table with two stools

The concrete games will be located at West Main Park in Visalia.

All submissions are welcome!

ONE artist will be selected to create the designs on all of the provided concrete games, which will need to follow the assigned theme throughout the set of games.

The selected artist will secure a $10,000 budget for the artist to realize their proposal.

The concrete game designs will need to include the theme of County Landmark:
• Morro Rock
• Gateway to Sequoias
• General Sherman
• Redwoods
• Giant Sequoias

All proposals should be family friendly in nature and content. Proposals must adhere to one or more of the provided themes to be considered for selection.

The Arts Consortium is proud to present the 2026 - 2027 Artist of the Year:

Congratulations Merry Miller-Gass!

Merry, a local artist living and working in Visalia/Tulare County, is a professional illustrator with extensive experience in children’s book illustration. Additionally, she serves as an arts educator, facilitating workshops for both youth and adults in diverse settings, including galleries, schools, community centers, and public programs.

In addition to her role as an illustrator and arts educator, Merry also serves as the Regional Advisor and Illustrator Coordinator for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, a globally recognized nonprofit organization.

Merry has had the privilege of exhibiting her work in both solo and group exhibitions, with her illustrations gaining national and international recognition through publications in magazines and children’s books.

Merry will have the opportunity to be featured in our annual publication, WATERMARK, where you can learn more about her and her as a working professional artist in Tulare County. She will also have the opportunity to be featured in the Arts Consortium’s managed Peter N. Carey Gallery in 2027.

The Arts Consortium presents the winner of our 2026 - 2027 WATERMARK Art Contest:

Congratulations to Sarai Vasquez!

Sarai is a student at Orosi High School and her piece was one of the 37 entries for this year’s art contest.

Her piece will be featured in our annual magazine: WATERMARK, set to come out later this year.

Congratulations once more, Sarai, and we hope to continue to see your participation in Tulare County’s art community!

Community Invite!

The Center for Art, Culture, & History - EXETER (CACHE) will be hosting its second annual reception for the student art exhibit titled “Future Artists of Exeter”

Date: Wednesday, May 20th
Tme: 5pm - 7pm
Location: 125 S B Street, Exeter
The event is free and open to the public.

CACHE has been working with local art teachers Amy Smith of Lincoln and Rocky Hill Elementary Schools, Jeneva Tollison of Wilson Middle School, and Angie Orr of Exeter Union High School to showcase the work of their talented students. Each group exhibited their artwork for a 10-week period beginning October 4 and ending May 15.

The closing reception will allow students to see their work exhibited in front of their friends and family and to receive well-deserved recognition for their efforts.
