Music & Tribute - The final stop of the 2019 World Wood Day Concert brought us to Vienna, Austria—the City of Music.

Led and moderated by Professor Rudi Pietsch, Die Tanzgeiger took the audience on a musical journey through Austria, Europe, and beyond, with the sounds of traditional wooden instruments.

This video is also a tribute to Professor Rudi Pietsch, a respected teacher and researcher at the Institute for Folk Music Research at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. His passion for folk music, teaching, and traditional instruments continues to be remembered.

Highlight of IUFRO World Congress 2024 | Stockholm, Sweden

Back in June 2024, the global forestry community gathered in Stockholm, Sweden, for the XXVI IUFRO World Congress under the theme “Forests and Society Towards 2050.”

The congress united researchers, educators, and forestry professionals from around the world to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and advance sustainable forestry.

The International Wood Culture Society (IWCS) and World Wood Day (WWDF) was proud to participate, strengthening connections between forest science, wood culture, and common heritage.

The 3rd From Forests to Heritage, held together with the 2026 World Wood Day Symposium and the 8th IUFRO Forest Products Culture Colloquium in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Researchers and educators from around the world came together to explore the connections between forests, wood, history, science, and culture.

The program also featured excursions to the Open Air Museum Maria Saal and the Ljubljana Moor archaeological site and the Handicraft Center of Ribnica, extending the discussions beyond the conference hall.

Researchers, professionals, and students are invited to submit abstracts for the Joint Conference of IUFRO Division 5 and the Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST), taking place from May 30 to June 3, 2027, at the Estonian National Museum in Tartu, Estonia.

This international gathering will bring together experts from around the world to share the latest advances in wood science, forest products, and sustainable innovation.
