Coming soon to Ewetopia- Fabric!

After all the painting and moving around, we created an area for some special bolts of fabric- suitable for garments, bags, and other sewing projects. Linen and cotton mostly, in a variety of weights and prints will be here soon!

Restraint is hard- there are many beautiful fabrics out there. But we’ll start small and learn as we go. Right now we have some fat quarters and fabric scraps.

This is the Studio Tunic by Sew Liberated that I just finished. While I have been sewing for decades- I made many twirly dresses and pajamas for Kathryn when she was young, I have never really advanced past a beginner level. I loved the techniques used in this pattern and I feel pretty accomplished.

I want another one already 🙂

We love connecting with knitters to show what goes into the yarn that they enjoy! It’s amazing to think of how much work goes into that finished garment, from sheep to sweater!

The American Sheep Industry just wrapped up their first Small and Mid-size Mill Conference in Sheridan, WY! I (Kathryn) was so excited to be one of the selected mills to attend, and I’m so glad to have taken off this week to travel there and collaborate, learn and be inspired by other mill owners and sheep industry professionals.

Besides cramming our heads with important business information and networking, we also toured Mountain Meadow Wool Mill which was exciting to see (especially their scouring train/wool washing system), and a local county fair with a big focus on wool, including a Make It With Wool lead line class (the Rambouillet ewe and her costumed comrade were my favorite 😊)

Personally, I don’t get away from the mill very often, and it has been so great to have my 3 daughters with me, we have even found time to do some hiking and exploring! I am excited to get home though and back to spinning! Mountain Meadow Wool American Sheep Industry
