Today we highlight Lisa Graham, the epitome of Black Girl Magic!!!
Mona Lisa Graham was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, where I attended Portsmouth Public Schools. I also graduated from a trade school formerly known as N2Nailz Academy, led by Sonya Edwards. This education enabled me to become the proud owner of Nailz2C and More LLC, located in my hometown of Portsmouth.
I am a mother of five amazing children—four boys and one girl—and a bonus mom to three. I am also a grandmother to five grandchildren—four granddaughters and one grandson.
Before becoming a business owner, I managed various companies, which allowed me to develop and refine skills that have helped me grow my business. I am a proud partner with Portsmouth Economic Development, where I continue to learn from experienced professionals to expand my business. I have attended numerous workshops to enhance my business acumen. Additionally, I have participated in the Women's Business Center at ODU, including a Financial Wellness Class facilitated by Dr. Angela Reddix and a Dream Builders Course.
I am a member of the Olde Towne Business Association, and my business is currently located at 614 High Street in Portsmouth, Virginia. As a licensed nail technician with over 23 years of experience, I consider myself a personal stylist for my clients. I have always loved doing nails and helping women feel more confident.
Though nails began as a career path, it evolved into my ministry. God is at the center of my business, and I strive to use the gifts He has given me to bless the Kingdom. This principle has driven the expansion of services at Nailz2C & More. Since relocating in 2021, the business now offers apparel, gifts, and customized gift baskets for any occasion, perfect for conference engagements, door prizes, giveaways, and more.
The growth of Nailz2C & More has also allowed me to employ young women, providing them with firsthand experience of entrepreneurship and demonstrating how to use their talents to support themselves and contribute to the community. I was invited to a job fair hosted by Portsmouth Economic Development at Manor High School, where I hired a new nail technician. I also participated in a summer program funded by Portsmouth Public Schools, bringing in three interns to assist with hair care, retail, and marketing at Nailz2C & More. In addition to nail services, we also offer hair care services.
Networking with other women business owners is a priority for me, and I have partnered with them to offer amazing products for our community. I have hosted Back to School Drives, supported by the Portsmouth Sheriff Department, Portsmouth Fire Department, and Domino's Pizza, which provided food for the youth. A non-profit organization also assisted with feeding the youth. Nailz2C & More has adopted Hodges Manor Elementary School, setting up an Angel Tree inside the salon for the past five years, with the school selecting families in need of services.
I am excited about everything we offer at Nailz2C & More. I invite you to stop by and let one of our stylists assist you. Don't forget to check out our retail space, and as our slogan says, "Delete the rest and come see the Best" at Nailz2C & More LLC.
On Sunday, August 4, 2024, the Black Girl Magic Alliance will honor her as our 2024 Top Entreprener of the Year!!! Congratulations and keep shining your brilliance from within!!!
