Another great night with working on their new record! John once again came in and gave a phenomenal performance. Super tight to the click, hits like a freight train. We spent our time really dialing in the kit. I decided for the most flexibility to literally mic ever every piece of the kit. Have each cymbal plus my overheads miced up gives me so much control particularly for metal. The sounds we got are incredible. And a new thing I tried last night was the SM7B on the hihat which is now my go to for all my hihats haha. It’s thick and detailed but also isn’t as shrill as other mics I’ve tried.

Looking forward to laying down guitars next! 😊🤘

Another year past without my best friend, mentor, hero and most importantly my father. I will never get past this, only learn to live with it. You meant everything to me and I wish so badly I could ask you a million questions. I still have your number saved in my phone because it brings me some comfort just to see your name pop up like you’re just away on a trip. I play the last voicemail you sent me every year just so I can hear you say I love you.

So happy to be able to announce a new release from my artists She is such a talent and joy to record! I love how hard she works on her music and the drive she has. The response to Cali girl is already incredible and now we get to share it officially with everyone else! I can’t wait to work on her next track!

WHAT A BLAST! Had an incredible time with working on his new tracks. I was so blown away by his skill and how he’s able to play the cello like an electric guitar! Just ripping solo out of no where 😂 I can’t wait to work with him again Friday and wrap up the tracking for these tracks. They’re awesome and it once again shows off the incredible amount of talent in Hampton roads ☺️

BUILDING AN ISOLATION BOOTH!

Nearly done with the build out! Just waiting for the track lights and AC vent cover to come in. Also have to do all the soldering for the wall panel.

But this is about building the room! I want to thank my buddy for being the most incredible friend and helping me with a lot of this. I couldn’t ask for a better friend for real!

The isolation buildout started with doing floor to ceiling demolition. It was rough but getting everything down to the studs is what I wanted. Once that was done I moved onto putting up the floating hat channels for the drywall. These float the drywall using rubber gaskets and keeps sound from entries room since its decoupled.

After that we moved onto drywall! Where you start to see your room really come together. This was by far the hardest part. We did two layers of 5/8 inch drywall and green glue in between the layers. Once it was all up I went around all the gaps and used a soundproof calk to seal everything in. Then I mud and sand, mud and sand and then mud and sand again until everything looked smooth.

Lastly floors and paint!!! I was so happy to have help me with this part. He did an incredible job! We really hit it off and I enjoyed talking with him about music and his career as a live mixing engineer. Hopefully we’ll team up soon to do some more wood working projects!

All in all it really turned out better than I could have hoped for. I’m so proud and happy to have this new room built and to be able to use it on many future projects!!! SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND VOX STUDIOS IS BACK OPEN!!!!!

So this is a big post!

Last year I had the privilege of working with director Duncan Bulling and the for a documentary on Captain Sheppard and 25 years of the international space station!!! It was an honor working with them both and so cool to meet such a national hero.

I recorded the interview between them and it was so cool hearing all of his stories. What an incredible and legendary man. He even signed a photo of him! Thank you to Duncan and the BBC for having faith in me and the studio to make sure everything ran smoothly and professionally. I hope I get to do this again!!!
