What the studio sounds like🎶🎹📝

If you were in the studio with us, this is what you would hear and see during the recording process…isolation of musicians, a click track, some very dry boring sounds. And then you walk into the control room and VOILA! It all comes together.

I got to record with some fabulous guys on this song. Seen here: (piano), (bass), (drums) and (engineer/producer). Not shown: (arranger/co-producer, solo pianist), (guitar) and Scott Wendholt (trumpet).

IT'S RELEASE DAY!!!!

My cover of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" is live on streaming platforms TODAY! This wistful ballad about the all-too-familiar feeling of falling so deeply in love that you lose sight of everything else. I’m thrilled to share my rendition of this1933 torch-song classic, featuring a beautiful solo by renowned American jazz trumpeter Scott Wendholt.

This recording session was a BLAST, with Paul K Ward arranging and co-producing from Portland, working with us live via Session Wire at Bakehouse Studios. Scott recorded his trumpet solo in NY and Paul recorded his piano solo in OR. I send my heartfelt thanks to the incredible musicians who each added their unique musical expression to this song. They are extraordinary and it is a privilege to make music together.

Do I really need to forgive?

Sometimes we carry around grievances and offenses without even realizing it. Today is a good day to search your heart and see if there’s anyone you need to forgive.

How many times do I need to forgive someone who has hurt me? As many times as it takes.

How many times should I forgive?

The answer is “Seventy X Seven”…. or until the process is complete. We should keep on forgiving, as many times and as often as necessary, until the offense is no longer present in our hearts….until we are free from it.
