The Vincennes University Performing Arts Department will present “Drum Enchanted Evening”, featuring the VU Percussion Ensemble, on Thursday, April 9, at 7:30 pm EDT in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center Theatre. Doors will open at 7:00 pm. The concert will include special guest performances by area elementary, middle, and high school percussion students, including John Higgs, Gibson Southern High School; Michael Ke, Princeton Community Middle School; Lennon Hanna; Princeton Community High School; Ellie Chappell, Addy Herb, and Gavin Street, South Knox Elementary School; Vanessa Mitchell, South Knox High School; and Caleb Duckworth, Carter James, Bryian Mattison-Kaiser, Luke Telligman, and Elias Thacker, Clark Middle School. The event is free, and the public is invited to attend. The Theatre is located on the VU campus at 20 W. Red Skelton Boulevard, Vincennes, Indiana.
The VU Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Susie Jackson, is a chamber ensemble that consists of percussionists playing a variety of traditional and innovative percussion instruments. The group will be performing various musical styles including jazz/fusion, classical, traditional, and the more contemporary “novelty tunes” performed in the style of “STOMP”, which involve the use of unique or unusual objects as percussion instruments combined with visual performance.
