My name is Gail and I'd like to welcome you to my studio, Hearts Ease. The studio features a selection of hand dyed wool from Linda Spear and hand spun art yarn from Molly Colegrove. I'm planning on offering small, intimate, classes with a variety of teachers, in rug hooking, jewelry making, needlework, and mixed media, once the pandemic is under control. such as jewelry and antiques. I will be av

I've looked forward to having my own studio for many years. I've finally gotten the opportunity to try and create a cozy, welcoming, place where creativity is the main goal. My creative interests span a wide range, from country primitive to colorful boho. Any style
may show up in this studio. Why the name, Hearts Ease? During these difficult times I wanted a place to go that would put my heart at ease. In Victorian times the pansy was also referred to as heartsease. The dictionary definition of Heartsease is -1) peace of mind: tranquility 2) any of the various violas (pansies). The pansy is also a symbol of thought and free thinking. So I hope you will be able to find some time to come visit the studio, be creative, and find some tranquility of your own.

The Studio's FB page has been quiet lately, but things are always busy around here. I'm finishing up my Aboriginal rug design that I started in Janet Connor 's class, been making jewelry, and having a lot of fun in my online Heart Totems class with Kelli May Krenz! I just finished the blue heart, using a childhood photo of myself that I transferred to fabric. I also used my baby bracelet, favorite chidhood monkey pin, family jewelry, trim from my old dining room curtains, and fabric from an old Civil War reenacting skirt of mine. The tag is from a top I bought. It was a lot of fun!!! Please message and come on by the Studio for some fun, coffee, and shopping. I'd love to see you!

After nearly a month, I'm starting to get settled into retirement, although the newest addtion to the pack, Tucker, has been keeping me on my toes. Before Christmas, I recieved a challenge to hook somthing completely based on shapes. I did hook shapes, but finished them my own way. I do love mixed media work. It was a personal challenge to figure out three different ways to mount the hooked shapes.
