We Have Sinned Before You Wins Gold Medal for Best Film at the 28th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival.

The Israeli film joins Silver Medal winner Passarinho from Mexico and Beyond Silence from The Netherlands as the winners of a worldwide audience vote.

We Have Sinned Before You, written and directed by Ifat Nener Orgad (Israel), is the Gold Medal Winner of the 28th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival. We Have Sinned Before You, a family drama set around a game designed to pass the time on Yom Kippur, resonated with viewers around the world. Manhattan Short medal winners are selected by voters attending the festival in theatrical venues around the world.

"It's always exciting to receive an award from a festival, but when it comes from a cinema-loving global audience, it's profoundly moving.

Thank you to everyone around the world who watched, connected with, and voted for my film, it's truly heartwarming.

It proves that when a story comes from the heart, it can touch anyone, anywhere.

I'm deeply grateful to MANHATTAN SHORT for believing in our film and for making this incredible journey possible, Special thanks to Nicholas Mason, whose subtle yet brilliant suggestion for the film's ending made a huge impact."

— Ifat Nener Orgad

Passarinho, directed by Natalia García Agraz (Mexico), won the Silver Medal. The film is about two teenage girls who try to meet their favorite soccer player but their plan is threatened when one of them gets a red card. The film is dedicated to all the Messi Mums in the world.

The Bronze Medal winner is Beyond Silence, written and directed by Marnie Blok (The Netherlands). The film tells the story of two women from two generations who experience a singular trauma. One retreats into silence. The other breaks it. The Best Actor Award goes to Henrianne Jansen for her breakout performance in this film.

"Manhattan Short and venues and audience all over the world, thank you so much for having us and watching us! I'm proud and honoured to win the bronze medal! And more than that I am beyond proud and beyond happy that Henrianne Jansen won Best Actor! She was so dedicated to the project and although this being her first role, she was amazingly professional. I truly hope we can turn Beyond Silence into a feature film. A huge thank you to Nick, whose vision and dedication made this festival possible — shining a light on indie filmmakers everywhere."

Manhattan Short 2025 played to a sold out crowd here in Vicksburg, and seemingly the ten films almost all reflected relationships between child and parent and/or women's issues. Each film and nominated actor had its supporters in the Vicksburg voting, but the clear favorite performer was Henrianne Jansen of "Beyond Silence" who got more votes than all the others combined locally and won the worldwide vote as well. There was a tie for second place between Lisa Jones of "I Have My Reasons" and Lucia, the young woman from "Chasing the Party."

The favorite film in Vicksburg was "Passarinho," about a mother taking two girls to a soccer game in Mexico. Second place among the films was a tie between "Beyond Silence" and "Em and Selma Go Griffin Hunting." "We Have Sinned Before You," which won the worldwide vote came in forth place in the Vicksburg vote.
