JAN BIXLER is our Featured Artist for the month of June!
Jan's Art consists of making earthy, bohemian jewelry. She loves to repurpose beads and other findings that she obtains at yard sales and thrift shops. When examining her jewelry you will find she employs silver, gold,
Swarovski crystals, pearls and chains to create truly interesting pieces.
Jan has been a Vevay resident eleven years, after residing in Springfield, IL, Minneapolis, Minnesota, West Palm Beach, FL, and Seattle, WA.
When not volunteering at the Community Art Center or the Hoosier Theater, Jan can be found working at Switzerland County Tourism.
Busy lady!!!

Welcome to sculptor and painter Jim Day, world renowned for his "recreation art" of endangered and protected birds. While they rival the actual birds in appearance, white turkey feathers have been air-brushed and painted to represent specific species such as golden eagles, hawks and owls. Jim's painted feathers have been used as props in movies such as "Last of the Mohicans" and "Last of the Dogmen".
His handpainted feathers are available at the Community Art Center. Also on display are his original paintings and some are offered as prints. Jim plans to have one of his sculpted eagles at the Art Center in the future. Jim is pictured with an eagle he created that was requested for the White House and is now on display there.

Bailey McGuire and her art will be celebrated at the Community Art Center on First Friday, May 1st!
Bailey is a sophomore at Switzerland County High School and became a member at the Art Center in 2025 when she was juried in following the same process as an adult artist.
She credits her family as her primary inspiration and support. She is the daughter of Bryan and Amanda McGuire of Sanders, KY. The family inspiration extends to her via her grandmother (also an artist), three older brothers, a sister-in-law and even the family's three cats and a dog. Bailey says she's been drawing since her tiny hand could hold a pencil.
Bailey volunteers to work at the gallery and is currently producing a series of videos on Featured Artists. Her interests go beyond her art, as she is involved in the concert, jazz and marching bands at school, as well as drama club. She is also an honor student!
Meet Bailey while enjoying her paintings at the Art Center from 6-9pm on May 1st.
The annual Student Art Show will also be debuting that evening.
Here's a sneak peek at Bailey and her time thus far at the Art Center!

Dillsboro Arts Friendship Gallery continues to bring the best and most unique art to our community. This piece, "The American Woman" by Martha Bladen, is a collage of postage stamps, many of them portraying important women from our history. The collage is accompanied by printed biographies of each of the subjects. Come in and see all of the artworks in this Regional Open Call Exhibition on Saturdays 10:00-2:00, Tuesdays 6:00-8:00, or by appointment, until May 30.
