🎨 Week Two at The Secret Spot: Van Gogh

This week we explored the colorful world of Vincent van Gogh through painting, drawing, mixed media, storytelling, music, movement, gallery visits, and creative play.

But the masterpieces hanging on the wall only tell part of the story.

This week we watched campers take creative risks, build friendships, share their talents, solve problems, encourage one another, and discover new ways to express themselves.

Every child sees the world differently—and that’s exactly what we celebrate at The Secret Spot.

Different ways of seeing the world.

Exactly how it should be.

This week at The Secret Spot we’re exploring Vincent Van Gogh, but we’re also learning something bigger—that creativity doesn’t look the same for everyone.

And that’s what makes this place so special.

One day these little artists will be grown.

The paintings will fade, the tie-dye shirts will get too small, and the sketchbooks will fill up.

That's part of why we're creating a weekly Secret Spot newsletter- which could turn into a coffee table catalog!

Each week we document the memories, artwork, discoveries, adventures, and milestones from camp so families have something tangible to look back on long after summer ends.

Our first issue—featuring Claude Monet, plein air painting, downtown adventures, and our first gallery exhibit—is officially complete.

Week One: Monet ☁️🎨🌿

We wrapped up our very first week of Secret Summer Camp the best way we know how…

By becoming artists.

This afternoon our campers carefully mounted a week’s worth of paintings, sketches, reflected in our journal pages, and creative experiments for our first-ever Friday Gallery Exhibit.

The walls were filled with water lilies, landscapes, color studies, observations, imagination, and plenty of masterpieces that started with the simple courage to try.

After celebrating each other’s work, we shared pizza and fresh fruit, swapped stories from the week, and finished the day tie-dyeing our official Secret Spot Artist Shirts.

Somewhere between the paint splatters, pizza slices, and tie-dye swirls, friendships were made, confidence grew, and a few young artists discovered just how much they are capable of creating.

Week One is officially in the books.

And this is only the beginning.
