Hello, Genie 🧞 ✨✨✨

When I opened up the box from Oceanside Glass and saw this moody, sparkling Adventurine swirl staring back at me I knew I had to make something special. Something that highlighted the flow of this particular sheet without cutting it up into something where that might get lost. I sketched for days, and kept circling back to this jellyfish. So I scanned this sheet of Genie onto my computer and played with lines of tentacles for hours until I got just the right flow that was also possible to cut from one sheet without fear of having a line break where I didn’t want to. In the end, this jellyfish represents more than just a beautiful deep sea creature drifting among sparkles and bioluminescence. It represents the long, slow process and thoughtful details of handmade art.

Oh, friends, am I excited for these mini horseshoe crabs! I made my first batch of these for the conference in April and they all crawled their ways into new homes faster than I expected. This time around I made a few more of these cuties just in case. 💛🧡🤎

Whale sharks may be the largest fish in the ocean, but these tiny ones will fit in the palm of your hand. They are destined to be plant stakes when I solder them, adding to the growing collection of ocean themed plant stakes I make. I have to thank for the inspiration for these!

A few pieces waiting to come alive here on my workbench. Sometimes you can see the whole vision in the puzzle pieces of glass, and sometimes the details are added later. These tiny horseshoe crabs still need me to bend and twist wire details for their carapaces and their tails to be added during soldering. And the spotted eagle ray awaits the delicate application of, well, spots which will be cured then baked on to secure their placement. A year ago I rarely added wire or paint and now I love the endless possibilities they open up.
