LACMA presents a series of films by award-winning and emerging Latin American and BIPOC filmmakers who approach their subjects through the eye of the “other” with curiosity, empathy, and respect. The series will explore overlapping themes prevalent in both the U.S. and Latin America, bringing together Latin American and BIPOC filmmakers to find a point of convergence. Each screening will be followed by a curated conversation with the filmmaker, creating a dialogue that offers overlapping yet unique cultural perspectives about the topics of the films. Curated by Vanessa Perez, the series aims to celebrate cultural diversity and emerging filmmakers, while showing we are all interconnected.

Call for submissions from individuals who self-identify as women as part of a performance in an upcoming exhibition “Re-writing us, Re-nombrarnos”.
Maria Adela Diaz invites women of all ages worldwide to send "Bad words" that had harm you or someone you know.

All “Bad words” will be used and performed by the artist in Diaz’s “WE CAN’T BREATHE” which will be performed live at Appext, NY, on April 23rd, 2022.

- Este anillo de compromiso fue diseñado como símbolo de valentía y resistencia al patriarcado. Lágrimas, sangre, coraje. Hecha con los dientes de leche de mis hijas, hecho con plata y oro de piezas cargadas de recuerdos, y dos diamantes.

Esta exposición plantea entender el tiempo desde un acercamiento más generoso con todos los seres vivos, incorporando los distintos ritmos de la naturaleza como marcadores de tiempo más apropiados para sobrellevar la vida. A partir de la observación de los vaivenes de las olas, del crecimiento de las plantas, o de los ciclos del clima es posible entendernos como parte de un todo y permitir que sea esa naturaleza la que guíe también nuestros ritmos.

This exhibition proposes to understand time from a more generous approach with all living beings, incorporating the different rhythms of nature as more appropriate time markers to cope with life. From the observation of the ups and downs of the waves, the growth of the plants, or the cycles of the climate it is possible to understand ourselves as part of a whole and allow that nature to also guide our rhythms.
