It is with deep sadness that we announce the end of the VC Art Market after eight remarkable years and four unique locations. This decision was not made lightly and comes after much reflection on the challenges we’ve recently faced.
Despite our efforts to adapt and grow, the downtown area has become oversaturated with competing markets, making it increasingly difficult for our event to thrive. Attempts to relocate to a new venue were met with rising costs and additional requirements, such as providing extra public restrooms and private security—expenses that far exceeded our resources. Safety concerns and the lack of meaningful support from the city further solidified our decision.
It has been deeply disappointing to see our vision for a free, community-driven art market overshadowed by logistical and financial hurdles. It shouldn’t be this difficult to create a space that celebrates art and connection.
To our incredible artists and supporters, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Watching your creativity and talent flourish has been an honor and a privilege. Your passion and dedication have made this journey unforgettable.
Though this chapter closes, we remain hopeful for the future of art and community in Ventura. Thank you for being part of this journey.
