Patience Is the Companion of Wisdom
Vic Herman

In this compelling portrait, Vic Herman presents a man grounded in time and experience. Seated with quiet assurance, his presence feels steady rather than imposing, a figure who has arrived at understanding not through certainty, but through living.

The folded hands, deliberate posture, and measured gaze suggest a lifetime of reflection, resilience, and discernment. Herman invites us to consider wisdom not as something proclaimed, but as something earned and carried with humility.

Presented by Avanti Lithograph, this limited edition fine art lithograph is carefully produced to preserve the tonal richness, texture, and character of the original work. Each print is signed and numbered, a lasting testament to Herman’s powerful figurative practice and Avanti’s commitment to preserving meaningful art.

In My Bus to Tláhuac Is Late, Vic Herman turns our attention to a quiet, fleeting moment, the face of a woman waiting. Her expression is calm, patient, and observant, reflecting the stillness found in everyday life.

Herman (1919–1999) was often called “The Norman Rockwell of Mexico” for his ability to honor ordinary people with dignity and empathy. Like Rockwell, he focused on small human moments, waiting, watching, enduring, elevating them into something timeless.

This work was exhibited as part of The Many Faces of Mexico exhibition, a celebration of shared humanity and daily ritual.

This piece is available through Avanti Lithograph. Link in bio.

In moments of waiting, small gestures hold meaning.

My Bus to Tlahuac Is Late
Vic Herman

Notice the texture of the dress and the weight of the resting hands draw the viewer into a quieter, more intimate reading of the figure. The layered fabrics feel worn, familiar, grounded in lived experience.

Printed as a signed and numbered fine art lithograph, the work preserves the subtle tonal shifts and surface detail of Vic Herman’s original composition. Known for his deep connection to Mexican culture, Herman devoted much of his career to portraying everyday life with honesty and respect.

The lithograph preserves, the subtle textures and tonal depth of the original work.
