𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗙 brings together artists whose practices engage “drawing” and mark-making as methods of pattern, spatial thinking, and meaning making in relation to the body. Working across installation, sculpture, and alternative substrates, the body is brought closer to material through the careful gestures of each artist. The grain of wood, the weave of textiles, and the surface of ceramic forms are not treated as neutral supports, but as active participants in the work. Set upon the landscape of Los Angeles, a consideration of how these materials and patterns contextualize our bodies rise to the surface.

Alt projects is pleased to announce our participation at the Startup Art Fair with four artists between California and Seoul.

Sejung Lee is a Seoul-based artist whose work explores how intimacy is maintained across physical distance. Drawing from experiences of separation from family and loved ones, she examines mediated connection through voice, images, and text as both a source of closeness and emotional vulnerability. Working across painting, drawing, printmaking, and photobooks, Lee uses fragmentation and material intervention to reconstruct distant bodies and spaces. Lee received a BFA in Painting from Hongik University in 2025 and has exhibited in group shows across Seoul and Paju.

Joanne Lee is a San Francisco–based artist whose practice centers on memory, time, and emotional accumulation through hand-dyed Hanji (traditional Korean paper). Using repeated layers of natural pigments, Lee builds fields of color that function as abstract traces of lived experience, where overlapping lines and tones evoke the slow sedimentation and fading of memory. She has exhibited widely across the US and Asia, including solo exhibitions at Bluestream Gallery in San Francisco and Gamo Gallery in Seoul, and has participated in international art fairs such as Art Vancouver and BANK ART FAIR Seoul.
