LA Times AtLAs is a variable edition of linocut prints pulled over vintage 1988 Los Angeles atlas pages. Each sheet corresponds to a real section of the city’s grid that we have moved through in this life. Places we’ve lived in, passed through, gotten lost in, loved in, and learned from. No two pages are the same. Each carries the mark of its geography and the mark of my hand. Paired with the original track LA Times AtLAs, the work extends into sound. Together they form an audio/visual system about time and place, and the life we live inside this grid.

This project came together as a commissioned gift by an awesome wife for her husband and his 4 brothers. She wanted to pay homage to the Historic West Adams home they were raised in and no longer owned. I visited the property to photograph it, sourced images, vintage maps, classic LA logos and incorperated as many details as she gave me into the composition. We wanted them to all be similar but one of a kinds, so I created monoprints that represented different times of the day in their color pallets. They really loved them and I loved the process of bringing this dream to reality. Art that is personal and represents memories and places, is what I enjoy most about my process. I’ve been getting requests for La Brea since I first stared this series, so here it is. From Hollywood to Hawthorne(Haurthonn IYKYK), La Brea is one of LA’s most celebrated Avenues. I’ve spent a lot of my life doing things on La Brea, since my Aunties Hair shop at Edgewood in the late 80’s to living a couple blocks away in my early 20’s. The Sneakerhead days at Undefeated and Union in the 2000’s. What are some of your favorite spots on La Brea? We know Pinks is the most iconic(even tho Leo’s Tacos is always busier), but if you’re from the city what are your spots? RIP El Burrito Jr and the El Chato Truck is better than Leo’s.(period)

When I embarked of this phase of my Artistry, I had no idea how much the Street Runners series would resonate with people. No Street resonated more with any community than Crenshaw. I’ve created more Crenshaw’s than any other street by far. We know a big blue rug doesn’t match everyone’s decor or aesthetic, so I created a bright red to yellow gradient, I had previously done for Sunset Bl. I hope this resonates with the community and everyone who loves Crenshaw for all it represents. ❤️🧡💛

The legendary Sunset Bl should’ve come a lot sooner if I had to rank it among my favorite LA Streets. Stretching from Dodgers Stadium to the Pacific Ocean, Sunset has some of dopest neighborhoods from Echo Park, Silverlake, Hollywood, and the Sunset strip in West Hollywood. If you are old enough and fortunate to remember what Sunset was like between 98’-01’ from Fairfax to Doheny, you know why this street is so legendary for my generation. Prior the being 21, we would cruise this section on a Friday-Sunday night and it might take an hour to go less than 2 miles. I have stories for days and completely understand why “cruising” was banned.

In 2014 I moved to Sunset and Vine(literally), to cohabitate in a relationship and I experienced living in Hollywood for the first time. I would never do it again, but those years and all the memories only increased my love of Sunset. If you ever have the time, take Sunset from Downtown, all the way to the beach, through Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Palisades. It’s still one of the best drives in the city.

This Street Runner is an ode to those all those memories and my favorite part of living in this city, the Sunsets.

RIP to my favorite LA Theater, Archlight Hollywood, home of the Cinerama Dome, the Original Ameoba Music Location(they’re down the street now) and the Key Club. 🙏🏾

Another custom Runner for the neighborhood and not just the Street that runs through it. Koreatown is probably the LArgest of all the International communities that have a country in front of “...town”. Aside from all the fire Korean BBQ spots, The Line Hotel, Lock & Key, the Wiltern and those crazy after hours spots, the natives always have a place to put you on thats like nothing else in LA. The LAtino community has always had their stake in this section of the City and I hope they fight off the rapid gentrification that’s been happening over the last decade. If you’ve never been to this community, go! Much love to KTown. What community is next?
