This has been sitting around for two years.

Yes, I've been thinking about doing a collage of a scene out the back window of my Studio for the past two years. I'm excited to have finally started it.

Here, I am getting ready to grid-out my working sketch so that I can transfer it onto to tracing paper that is of the size I want for the finished piece - 16x16.

Meet Ernie, my granddoggy, a sweet and happy American Staffordshire Terrier that I get to doggysit every so often. He's a little camera shy. But a great pal to have around especially while I'm working in the Studio.

I couldn't believe this was happening.

I was running low on my FAVORITE pencils. And then, I was shocked to find that refilling my stash was not easy. These suckers were hard to find!

Needless to say, I finally found them and probably won't run out for quite a while

Whew. It's a good thing because I don't know what I would do without them. 🙂

The unexpected...

happens ALL the time when I'm working on a collage.

A lot of this is because I don't always have the exact color, pattern, or texture of paper or fabric I'm thinking of in my collection of recycled paper and vintage fabrics.

I did not expect to represent water in this piece with old blue-flowered drawer liner paper tat I've had in my stash for a long time.
