New cute and spookies 🐈‍⬛👻 for cuddle + kind 🥰. The Tiny Collection is such a great example of how packaging can be so much more than a throwaway vessel for the main product. In this case, it serves the practical purpose of protecting the product, providing a surface for barcodes/ legal text etc while inviting children into an imaginary world. The dolls are adorable on their own but the packaging helps to create a story and environment with more shelf presence and a secondary life of endless play 🖤.

A friend who also carved out her own path in the creative world recently described her career as a quilt. I thought that was a really beautiful way to capture all the pieces that make up working for ourselves. There is no singular way to go about it and everyone’s path and business looks different.
In this moment, being a full time artist looks like: Working directly with clients to create custom work for their brand, manufacturing and selling my own products, licensing my “personal” artwork through my agent, working 10 hours a week as a contract designer for a brand, selling my handmade ceramics locally and I’ll be teaching my first in person ceramics workshop this week 🤗
In the past, my evolving quilt looked very different. As time goes on, and imaginary shapes are added, it will continue to shift, change and grow. I can’t wait to see the beauty and challenges those new pieces bring.

Thank you Rachel Alexander String Studio for sharing the beautiful way you view your career ❤️

I included a few images of projects currently in my quilt 🪡
1.Spooky and romantic party supplies for my contractor gig🐦‍⬛🗝️🪻
2. A few of the products I produce myself and sell online and at markets 🖌️
3. A custom print I created specifically for a client ☑️
4. My personal work licensed through my agent on playful tableware 🎨
5. My handmade ceramics ☺️🤗

Making some time for experiments this weekend. If the final piece turns out like 💩 #, at least the process has been really fun and honestly quite pretty ☺️

I’ve used the same paints for 20+ years. I honestly can’t even tell you what brand(s) they are 🤣. It’s a plastic watercolor palette with once liquid colors, now rock hard blobs, that has lasted FOREVER🤷🏻‍♀️. I’ve bought a few new tubes over the years but my primary paints haven’t changed 🤣. Viviva Colors kindly sent me a few sets of their watercolor sheets and palettes to try and I was very excited to test them out.
I used only the summer color sheets for this painting with the addition of black and white acrylic paint for a few details. Swipe to see of all the colors that come in the pack! I thought Iris, porcelain and ash were exceptionally pretty!

Things I love:
🎨The colors are extremely pigmented for a dry base watercolor
🖌️I really like all of the colors in this set and found they mixed well
💰The price is pretty great for getting 16 colors! An easy way to expand your existing palette or experiment 🕺

☀️This summer set includes a neon yellow which I haven’t used BUT when I took the swatch outside that baby was bright! Most neon paints do fade over time so it will be interesting to see how it holds up.

Things I didn’t necessarily love:
🎨I’m not sure what the advantage of the sheet is? For me, using their traditional paint palette was easier for mixing. I like being able to see all of my colors laid out and I made a mess flipping back and fourth 🤣 I might just be messy though 🙈
💰unlike the traditional paint palettes they sell, Im not really sure how much paint is on each sheet. It seems like a lot but I’ll be interested to see how many times I can revisit the sheets before the color runs out.
📦A continuation of above but I felt the layout and packaging could be improved for functionally. You can’t cut the squares out of the booklet because they are double sided, which saves on paper, but makes the product in my opinion harder to use.

All that to say, I had a lot of fun with these and look forward to using Viviva Colors traditional paint palettes and revisiting the sheets again when traveling or tight on space ☺️. Yay for color and art supplies 🌈

Was wallpapering my bedroom the worst decision ever?
Has it been super limiting having such a bold design on the wall?
No and nope! Four years ago we put this wallpaper up. Since then, our puppy ate the original duvet🤣 and I added a piece of art and my cute Franconia farm pillow. But that’s it. Same nightstand, curtains and throw pillows but it feels like a different space. My point is, if you love a bold wallpaper but settle for something simple because you think it will be more versatile long term that’s not necessarily true🤷🏻‍♀️. Put what you love on your walls💛

My next project is to create some ceramic sconces because I want new ones but don’t have the $ so it will be a good challenge to see what I can make myself ☺️

And they say artists don’t appreciate AI! I mean look at the beauty it can create 🤣. All joking aside, don’t steal from artists 🤷🏻‍♀️ and question shirts that are $3.14 ☺️

Someone recently remarked “so you paint on ceramics now” and while I know they meant no harm and to be fair I do have a lot of hobbies😅, I kind of died inside 🤣. Yes, I do infact paint on ceramics 😋 but I also design my forms, hand build them, create the artwork and spend a ridiculous amount of time experimenting with different techniques I lean on YouTube🎓🙈. There is no point to this story😂. I’m just happy people like what I’ve been making and came out to support island artists over the last two weekends! People may not understand what we do but I like that they find joy in the result💛
I tested out a few of my new .underglaze on this vase and I love them. I’ll share the test tiles in my stories for anyone who is interested. Of course I made the test tiles after I made the vase because I was too impatient 🫣😅 but luckily it all worked out just fine.

The making of this pretty silk scarf for last year ☺️. We might not be able to stop the AI creep but we can certainly choose to support brands that work with artists 💛
