The two later opened Dragonfly Tattoo, the first tattoo shop in Vancouver, helping carve out the city’s tattoo scene long before it was trendy. Dave’s tattoo roots trace back to the 1920s through Amund Dietzel — a pioneer whose influence shaped generations. Dietzel taught Phil Sparrow, who mentored Cliff Raven, who trained Bone$, who passed that legacy on to Dave. Today, Dave continues that tradition by mentoring award‑winning artists who carry the same grit and respect for the craft.
