Building the image in layers—
cutting, shifting, rethinking what stays and what disappears.

It starts as a reference, but it never ends there.

The slow reveal.

A face doesn’t appear all at once.
It emerges — stitch by stitch.

What begins as scattered marks becomes presence.

The time stays in the work.

Art Day at Vancouver School of Arts & Academics was so interesting.

We did stitch studies — experimenting with color, texture, scraps, and simply seeing what happens when you slow down and stitch.

One student stitched the “THANKS” for me. Another used staples in their piece (which I secretly loved — rule breaking in the best way). And the beautiful pink painting in the center was a thank you from the students.

This was the first time I had ever taught.

Taking your time with your hands can be peaceful — even in a room full of middle and high schoolers.

Blurred Identity
A layered portrait exploring how identity shifts between what is revealed and what remains just out of focus.
Atill need to attach the softened printed image in front of a hand-stitched portrait, allowing glimpses of what lies beneath.

A new beginning…
This is the very first time I’ve stitched directly onto gessoed canvas, and I’m already loving the texture and resistance of it.

I’m starting a piece inspired by modern street angels — those quiet, everyday guardians who move around us unnoticed. Only a few stitches so far, but the figure is already whispering its way onto the surface.

More soon. ✨🖤

This little felt square is my contribution to a collaborative banner project with the Columbia Fiber Arts Guild’s hand-stitch group. The finished banner will hang at the West Linn Library, where we meet. True to my style, it’s a simple line drawing brought to life with thread—quiet moments, stitched in time. 🪡✨

Throwback to “Self Portrait in Boro” — created many years ago.
Someone recently reached out asking if this piece was available, and it completely caught me off guard—in the best way. I hadn’t thought about it in a while, but it reminded me how much I loved making these stitched figures.

It’s been years since I created a cloth figure, but maybe it’s time to revisit them.
Do you connect with this kind of work? Should I start stitching more figures again?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💭🧵
