I wanted to give a shout out to the Giulio Gari Foundation, a nonprofit that aims to promote the performing arts in general, and the opera in specific, worldwide. They also focus on discovering and promoting young talent. One of the ways they’ve done this is through their Salon Series, which relies on the Facebook Live feature to bring the opera into viewers’ homes and allow people who may not otherwise have the chance to experience the opera. The series features a different performer each episode and includes a short interview segment that lets viewers get to know them better. Their latest episode will be broadcast on October 20th at 7PM ET/4PM PT and will focus on Sylvia D’Eramo and her husband Chris Carbin, a talented couple who have done work together in previous productions. I highly recommend watching the episode on the Giulio Gari Foundation’s page, and also visit their website to learn more information about them.
