Old traditional sailor tattoo by Leif. Nautical lore tells us the pigs and chickens on boats often were found floating alive after ships wrecked, leading to the idea that having these tattoos would keep any unfortunate crew afloat.

Just a heads up that the Portland Tattoo Expo is this weekend (October 7th-9th)! If you enjoy anthropology and tattoos, this is for you! If you have any ink that we've done that you'd care to enter for us, we'd always love some more awards! As usual, if you enter and place with a piece that any of us have done, I'd be happy to reimburse you for your entry and parking fees. Although we don't have a booth this year, we'll be cruising around and getting some stickers, swag, and maybe some new tattoos! We appreciate you all and thank you for your support! - Leif

(1/2) Decided to post a few process series. Lemme know what you think! Going to the library (olden places with lots of books you could borrow) was the way you 'Googled' reference back in the day, lol... Most of these modern times, clients will show me something on their phone or email me some pics they found online and tell me that's what they want, or something very much like it. I don't want to do the same design repeatedly and I'm pretty sure you don't want the exact same tattoo design a thousand others have, so I'd be happy to draw something along whatever lines or direction you'd like. I don't charge extra for art design, but it generally takes some considerable time to prep mid-sized or larger pieces. I'll definitely step in and say if it won't work or if I don't think it'd look good down the road, but since you're the one who will have to look at it forever, a lot of it will fall to your preference. This video is a quick time lapse of a viking battle skull I sketched up on Procreate (while watching The 13th Warrior for some Norsivation). I'll post the original reference my client provided, along with some progress pics. I plan on laying out and sharing a few different recent pieces this next couple weeks. Our Story

Leif @lunatictattoo and Danielle @danielle_lunatictattoo have a combined tattoo experience of over 30 years and have received numerous awards from local tattoo conventions. Each has been tattooing in a variety of climates and atmospheres and is relatively well rounded in their abilities. From bright and bold to black and gray realism, we want to help you get the tattoo or project that YOU want to get. Patience @patiencetumbles has been tattooing about 2 years and is generally available between Wednesday and Saturday. We are primarily by appointment, but we are always happy to accommodate a walk in whenever possible. Sorry, no piercing.
