Captive breeding is a big part of what we do here at the Serpent Center. These are baby Brazilian lance Heads (bothrops moojeni) that were born in our lab. The venom from this species is under a great deal of study at this time and may just carry something of great significance to the pharmaceutical world.

It's not uncommon to see double fangs during Venom extractions. It's just a new fang moving into place to replace the old one. This is a Yucatan rattlesnake ( Crotalus Tzabcan) we are performing an extraction on in this photo.

Going through our AV stock today. We keep it in case of an accidental bite while working with venomous snakes. It's a must in our field of work and professional facilities will always have their own. However most private venomous keepers do not ! I have heard every excuse in the book why they don't have it and there's a great online source to help private keepers out in getting their own AV the right ( legal) way. So stop relying on everyone else to save your life and do it for yourself. Check it out on Facebook Antivenom support group ASG
