The Village Players

The Village Players A non-profit organization, providing theater entertainment to the local community.

The James McCabe Theater, built in 1915, is the only remaining commercial structure from Valrico's own small land boom at the turn of the last century. Originally built to house the Valrico Civic Club, it was erected by the membership to be a home for the group and an attractive focal point for the community. By the middle of the twentieth century the structure was home to a Woman's Club. In the l

ate 1970's the building was repossessed by Hillsborough County, and The Village Players gained permission to use the building for theatrical productions. In the fall of 1994, the property was deeded to The Village Players and soon after the building was designated a historic landmark. After the passing of one of the founders and former president of The Village Players, the building was renamed in honor of James McCabe. The Village Players of The James McCabe Theater are funded and supported solely by the generosity and enthusiasm of our surrounding community. In addition to fulfilling our role as both a theatrical center and a venue for the arts here in the Brandon/Valrico area, we are always striving to preserve our historic landmark building. As of 2013, we have replaced the roof, installed a new air handler for the AC, repaired the kitchen floor along with new lenolium and installed (4) four new ceiling fans. With the efforts of Gail Pierce and the generosity of the community we will contine to see improvements to the buiding, which will ultimately enhance the communtity theater experience for the patrons at The Village Players.

Happening in Tampa is a variety of shows during The Fringe Festival. All proceeds of the shows go to the artists! Tales from the Outer House, directed and produced by Jim Moss and Hal Granholm, is one of the vaudeville style performances.

Hal is often on our stage or directing shows at The Village Players. (He’s going to be the Narrator in the upcoming Not So True Story of Cinderella 2). Also featured is Keegan Taylor (who is Sir Hyper in our version of Cinderella). And Amy Windle was the original Fairy Godmother in our first (not so true) telling of Cinderella.

Point is… for $15, you can see this laugh out loud show at The Commodore in Tampa.

Current status at The Village Players:
🏰 A kingdom in chaos.
💀 A kooky family is moving in.

First things first…

Tickets are on sale now for The Not-So-True Story of Cinderella Part 2.

The slipper fit. The ball was a hit. Unfortunately, nobody learned any long-term life lessons. The story picks up where the curtain dropped with new royal problems, suspiciously familiar villains, and a kingdom that desperately needs a therapist. (PG-13)

OMGosh! We’ve been as silent as mice over here at The Village Players. Well, at least on social.

But, here is some BIG NEWS. Tickets for our August show, The Not So True Story of Cinderella Part 2, are now available.

This story continues where Part 1 left off, the Princess was saved and her stepmom ate 💩 cupcakes.

If you didn’t watch Part 1, don’t worry, you’ll catch on quick and you’ll enjoy this new adventure with Cinderella, her mice, a lot of royalty, a lot of princesses, and some guards who are single and like to mingle.

The show is PG-13. (If you have younger princess fans, we will be performing Frozen early 2027.)

But, grab your tix. We expect the show to sell out. https://thevillageplayersvalrico.com

It takes a village!

Thank you to our manly team who helped us move our props in and out of the storage container in one day to do some “housekeeping” with the unit.

Everyone should look familiar one way (we hope) — with Manny Velez (Jesus in JCSS), Dylan Connally (Big Chief in Peter Pan), Hal Granholm (Colonel Mustard from Clue), Artistic Director Domin Pazo and Technical Director Pete Terzian.

Keep flexing, guys!

🌸 Thanks for stopping by The Flower Shop. 🌸

Over the past three weekends, our stage was filled with drama, heartbreak, and second chances.

To everyone who spent an evening (or matinee) with us at The Village Players… thank you. Thank you for supporting local theatre, supporting our cast and crew, and supporting stories that remind us people are messy, complicated, stubborn, and still somehow worth loving anyway.

This show meant a lot to all of us, and seeing audiences connect with these characters made every rehearsal and backstage panic completely worth it.

And to our cast and crew: you brought so much heart to this stage. Also mild chaos. But mostly heart.

Love ya all!🌷
