Don’t judge. I just woke up, but questions randomly pop in my head at all hours. 😉 If you’ve installed a mini split let’s chat!

I had a nice afternoon having lunch and shopping with one of my friends I’ve had since childhood. One of the shops was actually a good reminder of several supplies I need to look into, either locally source or online. The hunt never stops, but it’s a fun journey!

I like to recycle or repurpose items when I can, but since some of the wood might’ve been plywood or MDF I think I just need to throw it in the trash. I’ve read about raw sawdust being used in gardens or given to farmers, but the glues and resins in plywood can cause a problem. 😕 If you have any other ideas, besides the trash, let me know!

Thanks to Jen from Wood Craft Blueprints for the design! Made some mistakes, but the next caddy will be even better! Making another stained one labeled Coffee Bar, and a painted version.

I needed a place to spray paint ASAP so here is a quick temporary station you may be able to build in under 5 minutes at home as well.

Materials:
1. Cardboard boxes
2. Paper to protect table
3. Aluminum foil to protect Lazy Susan (turn table)
4. Mask and ventilation or spray outside
5. A primer like Rust-oleum Filler Primer
6. Light sand paper
7. Final spray paint color

Basic steps:
1. After project is sanded down nice and smooth, apply primer coat and let dry.
2. Lightly sand the surface before applying final color coat.

I was low on sleep and food today and it showed when I kept messing up measurements and using the wrong tools, so this is your reminder to take care of yourself when using power tools! 😉

I got the main boards cut today. Tomorrow I will do some sanding and round a few of the edges. I’m making a few caddies so I can paint one and stain one. I’ll add 2 to 4 hooks to hang cups on the handle. On the side, I can add a laser engraved phrase or word relating to hot cocoa. ☕️

Pretty sure middle school IT classes sparked an interest in design and building. Took CADD classes throughout high school and majored in it as well! I’m happy to hear some schools still have shop classes or are bringing them back. Kids still need to use their imagination and create with their hands.

No seriously, how should you best store boards? 😬 I’ve seen people store boards vertically and horizontally on the wall. I want to be able to easily find and determine what type of board it is and what size. All these details come in to play. But I’ll get there!

With this narrow workspace, I’m constantly figuring out how I can use the space wisely. Here are some tips that have helped.

1. Store equipment under tables.
2. Add shelves for more storage space.
3. Use mobile work benches and computer desk to easily move around for various tasks.
4. Purge items that don’t serve an active purpose.
5. Ask for a bigger she shed on a larger plot of land out in the country for Christmas. 😉

Next project - add a phrase or personalize the s’mores sticks. I’m sure they’re good for hotdogs too! AND build a s’mores bar - a container to carry all the s’mores supplies to the fire. Stay tuned! 😊

Save your decent sized scrap pieces! You never know when it might save a project… and a few more $$$. 😉
