REGISTRATION FOR CST EDUCATION’S SPRING SEMESTER is happening now for NEW and CURRENT STUDENTS of all skill sets!

Learn theatre by doing, not by lecture. Youth classes begin the week of February 16 so get your kids registered now by FEBRUARY 7 before classes fill up.

To register, go to our education page on at https://chicagostreet.org/education/youth-education. There are beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes available for kids ages 5-18!

Chicago Street Theatre has been educating young performers since 1994, setting students up for success as professional theatre artists and communicators. Our hands-on approach with veteran artists makes CST an encouraging space to build confidence and performance skills.

NO audition required for classes, all we need is a young mind ready to learn and have a ton of fun!

Summer is getting closer and we are excited for all the fun we get to have at Chicago Street Theatre with our youth summer camps!  Are your kids interested in either performing or working behind the scenes? Check out what will be going on this June and July where they can experience what it’s like in a theater environment at https://chicagostreet.org/education/summer-camps/ from acting on stage, learning improv, working in the tech booth, and more!

Also, CST’s popular Shakespeare in Shorts program is back this year for ages 8-13 acting out “Romeo and Juliet” and immersing themselves in the imaginative language of the bard. The play will also be the subject of our Teen Shakespeare Workshop this year for ages 14-18 and features two main-stage performances and pre-show participation in CST’s annual Shakespeare in The Park production in Central Park Plaza.

As the kids head back to classroom this week, we would like to list some ways an arts curriculum, such as the classes we have for children and teens at Chicago Street Theatre, benefit those in school.

Research shows that young arts participants are more likely to:
-be recognized for academic achievement,
-be elected for class office,
-participate in math and science fairs,
-win an award for attendance
-win an award for writing an essay or poem
-have higher levels of confidence, self-esteem, empathy, and social ability

Register now for our spring semester by going to our education page at https://chicagostreet.org/education/youth-education/  Classes start the first full week of February and run through May where students will participate in showcases.
