MOTORCYCLE GRANNIES PREFER SALADA TEA! In honor of National Tea Day, FILM Archives goes back to 1970 for this classic SALADA TEA Commercial. Clever spot starts out looking like a scene from THE WILD ONE, with a black helmeted, leather jacketed motorcycle gang racing through the roads and coming to stop at a rural diner. But rather than make trouble, all these grey haired riders want is a nice cup of tea! Lots of familiar faces here for those up on their 1970s grandmotherly character actors.

In honor of Dance Marathon Day, FILM Archives presents this 1930s footage of a depression era Marathon Dance competition. The event was well depicted in the film THE SHOOT HORSES DON'T THEY.

In honor of National Pound Cake Day, FILM Archives presents this rarely seen animated TV commercial from the 1970s. Nicely animated Arnold Desert Cake advertisement features a rather good impersonaltion of Boris Karloff as the voice of caloric and fattening frosting. Here the Karloof Kream Kreation tells the female dieter that thet fun way to lose weight is by enjoying Arnold Desert Cake - basically pound cake without icing. When pound cake is considered diet food, no wonder everyone loved the swingin' seventies.
