2ND ARTIST OF THE MONTH
Patrick Koehle is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and photographer presenting works from his ongoing series “Us Against the Sky” which features 35mm photography taken across the United States and Japan. By isolating subjects against a blue sky, the series hopes to examine how our feelings - smallness, largeness, loneliness, connectedness - can affect our perspective on the world around us, and vice versa. DECEMBER ARTIST!
Sarah Clare Simone is an experimental filmmaker and photographer based in Brooklyn who focuses on mental health awareness in visual works and portrait photography. Sarah Clare attended Binghamton University where she studied Cinema and Political Science in order to develop her skill at capturing natural, candid moments and to learn about experimental film and cinema tactics. She will be presenting works from multiple series that relate to experimental photography, mental health visualizations, and live music portraits. In using her personal experiences with trauma, mental illness, and loss as her guide, Sarah Clare aims to spark positive conversations about one’s own relationship with their life experiences and how it affects their day to day life, and attempts to draw connections in forms of communication that reach beyond the image. November Artist of the Month:
Born in Paterson, New Jersey and raised in Queens and Long Island, Tom Sena has been part of the art scene in the New York Metropolitan area for the past 20+ years. Sena finds influences from various areas of life and uses multiple materials and techniques as forms of communication and expression. He has had numerous one-man shows and has been included in many group exhibitions throughout the country. His work is part of various private collections globally. A public school art educator, Sena has currently taught the past 23 years at Lynbrook High School on Long Island, where he also spent 8 years as Director of the district’s Bern Seiderman Art Gallery. He has been named a Nobel Educator of Distinction in 2004-05, as well as being named to the National Honor Society’s Who’s Who of America’s Teachers. He currently resides on Long Island.
