A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday at Mare Island Art Studios to celebrate the opening reception of Diana Krevsky’s exhibition as part of the Art of Community Festival. It was wonderful to see our galleries filled with people, conversation, connection, and appreciation for the arts.

And we’re just getting started! The Art of Community continues throughout the month, with many more opportunities to experience art and community at MIAS.

We're honored to welcome Diana Krevsky as the featured artist for Legacy in Color, a special exhibition celebrating more than five decades of creative work.

A longtime Vallejo artist, Diana's paintings, sculpture, and mixed-media pieces reflect a lifetime of curiosity, courage, and artistic exploration. Her work invites viewers to consider political, environmental, and social issues through bold color, expressive forms, and a uniquely personal perspective.

Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, August 8, from 12:00–4:00 PM at Mare Island Art Studios. Diana will also give an Artist Talk at 2:00 PM, offering a rare opportunity to hear about her creative journey, influences, and the ideas behind her work.

Whether you've followed Diana's career for years or are discovering her art for the first time, this exhibition promises to be one of the highlights of this year's Art of Community Festival.

We can't wait to share this remarkable collection with our community.

Honoring Those Who Make Vallejo Stronger!!!
In 2024, Mare Island Art Studios and Artiszen Vallejo created the Art of Community Awards as part of the Art of Community Festival to recognize the individuals and organizations whose dedication to art, culture, service, and community helps make Vallejo such a special place to call home.
This year, we are honored to celebrate 15 incredible Vallejoans whose contributions have enriched our city in meaningful ways. Their stories remind us that community is built every day through creativity, compassion, leadership, and service.

We invite you to join us as we celebrate this year's honorees.

Through the month of July we have two shows at Mare Island Art Studios, “Feline and Movement” and “Driven to Abstraction” featuring Sandra Chu.

Join us on Sundays from 12pm - 5pm

Driven to Abstraction
Color, Imagination and Emotion are the key components of this body of work. Through vibrant layers, dynamic forms, and intuitive mark-making, Sandra Chu invites viewers into a world where feeling takes precedence over representation. Her abstract compositions explore the interplay of movement and energy. Each piece encourages reflection, discovery, and a unique emotional connection.

Plus the Wee Bus Will be here with live music from Feral Katz Quartet!
