Today, we pause to remember.

Memorial Day is more than the beginning of summer or a long weekend. It is a day set aside to honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our country and the freedoms we are blessed to live each day.

One time, we heard a rodeo announcer say something that has never left us:
“The American flag does not wave because the wind blows it. It waves with the last breath of every man and woman who died protecting it.”

In the rodeo and ranching world, we understand the meaning of sacrifice, service, and love for country. The American flag carried in our arenas represents far more than tradition. It represents those who stood for something bigger than themselves.

Today, Cherry County Rodeo Royalty remembers and honors our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

May we never take their sacrifice for granted.

God Bless our military, our veterans, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸

Pressure is not the enemy.

Lately, we’ve noticed a shift in some competitions where the goal seems to be removing pressure. Making it easier. Taking out harder elements. Making it “beginner friendly” by making it less competitive.

And while we absolutely believe there should be a place for girls who are brand new, we also believe we have to be careful about what we are teaching them.

Because pressure is not a bad thing.

Pressure is part of rodeo queening.

Pressure is standing in an arena with people watching and still riding with confidence.

Pressure is answering a question when you don’t know exactly what is coming.

Pressure is representing a rodeo, a community, a sponsor, and a title when people are paying attention.

Pressure is walking into a room, shaking hands, speaking clearly, and learning how to carry yourself even when you are nervous.

That is not something we should be trying to erase.

That is something we should be teaching girls how to handle.

Beginner friendly should not mean pressure free.

It should mean girls are encouraged, guided, and given the tools to grow. It should mean they are welcomed into the sport and supported while they learn. It should mean they are challenged in a way that helps them become better, not protected from every uncomfortable moment.

Competition is not cruel when it is done well.

Pressure is not harmful when it is paired with preparation, encouragement, and good leadership.

In fact, pressure can be one of the greatest teachers these girls will ever have.

It teaches confidence.
It teaches responsibility.
It teaches resilience.
It teaches them how to show up even when they are nervous.
It teaches them how to win with grace and lose with character.
It teaches them that hard things are not something to run from.

Rodeo royalty is beautiful, but it is not just sparkle and a crown.

It is public speaking.
It is horsemanship.
It is knowledge.
It is professionalism.
It is accountability.
It is learning how to represent something bigger than yourself.

And yes, sometimes that comes with pressure.

But pressure is a privilege.

It means you are being trusted with something important.

So instead of removing the pressure, maybe we should be teaching girls that they are capable of rising to it!!

Competition is a good thing!!!

Not because it’s about being better than someone else, but because it gives you a reason to grow.

The Cherry County Rodeo Royalty Pageant is a place to challenge yourself, build confidence, sharpen your skills, and step into the kind of young woman you are becoming.

If you’re brand new to the rodeo royalty world, you are welcome here. You do not have to have it all figured out. You do not have to know every answer. You just have to be willing to learn, show up, and try.

And if you’re a seasoned pro, this is your chance to take the stage again, push yourself a little further, polish what you already know, and go to the next level.

This pageant is about more than a title. It’s about horsemanship, public speaking, rodeo knowledge, confidence, sportsmanship, and representing the western way of life with pride.

Whether this is your very first pageant or one more step in your rodeo royalty journey, we would love to have you.

Your story. Your stage. Your next level.

Rodeo queens do more than most people ever see.

They’re in the stands talking to the little kids who’ve never been to a rodeo before.
They’re answering questions from families who don’t understand the sport yet.
They’re showing up in schools, hospitals, and communities- carrying rodeo with them wherever they go!!

And yet… they’re still one of the most underused and undervalued assets in rodeo.

**They are the bridge.**
Between the arena and the audience.
Between tradition and the next generation.

They have the knowledge.
They have the presence.
They know how to connect in a way no ad, flyer, or social post ever will.

This is not just a crown.
This is not just a title.

This is a built-in ambassador, marketer, and storyteller for your rodeo.

If you have a rodeo queen and you’re only using her for grand entry… you’re missing the point.

Use her in your community.
Use her in your schools.
Use her to build relationships, not just appearances.

Because when people feel connected, they come back.

Rodeo queens are not an accessory to your rodeo.
They are one of your greatest assets!

This weekend, Ellah and Aleena were back on the rodeo trail, making an appearance at the Blue Rose PRCA Charity Rodeo.

There’s just something about this time of year when rodeos start rolling and the miles begin to add up again. It’s not always about the arena itself, but about showing up, representing, continuing to build connections, and promote rodeo every step of the way!

Proud of these girls for stepping out, doing their job well, and carrying themselves with class wherever the road takes them.
