It has a rich history having been built in the 1890's and its architecture is typical of western opera houses of the day. The Grand Opera House was donated to the City of Uvalde by the heirs of Vice President John Nance Garner. It was later restored by generous donations from local patrons of the arts including Dolph and Janey Briscoe, former Texas Governor and First Lady. The Grand Opera House is
still in use as a venue for local theater, traveling productions, and as a music venue. https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/DppGHkY
